Job Description
About the Role
The best visuals don’t just announce a show. They pull you in. This internship is for someone who wants to learn that craft: social graphics, short-form video, infographics, and the tools that make people stop scrolling and pay attention. This is a training experience, not a staff position. You’ll practice on real training briefs and sample assignments under the close supervision of our design team, with room to experiment and bring fresh, fun ideas to the table. The internship is structured around your academic term, with a faculty or career-center sponsor as appropriate.
What You’ll Learn
- Design fundamentals for social graphics, practiced on sample and training briefs with hands-on feedback from staff
- The basics of short-form video editing, including clip selection and cutdowns, through guided practice exercises
- How infographics get built to support a launch or campaign, through training assignments reviewed by staff
- How to develop and pitch fun, brand-building creative concepts for Kaleidoscope, the kind of ideas that build a following instead of just filling a feed, as a learning exercise with staff feedback
- How marketing materials get sharpened for clarity, tone, and visual consistency, through practice edits and staff conversation
- Basic research methods for tracking visual and social trends
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled as an undergraduate in Marketing, Communications, Digital Media, Design, or a related field, seeking academic credit for this experience
- A genuine curiosity about podcasts and visual storytelling
- Familiarity with social platforms (Instagram, TikTok, Twitter, LinkedIn). No professional experience required
- Basic proficiency in Google Workspace; willingness to learn Canva (Adobe Suite or short-form video experience helpful but not required - we’ll teach the rest)
- Must have legal right to work in the U.S.
Program Structure & Compensation
This is an unpaid internship offered for college credit only. It is not a staff position, and Kaleidoscope does not depend on the intern’s work product for its business operations. Candidates must confirm credit eligibility with their College or University Career Center before starting; accepting credit hours is not required to accept the position if offered. The internship runs for a fixed term aligned to the fall academic semester, with flexible, part-time hours and a hybrid office structure. Before starting, interns will receive and sign a written acknowledgement confirming: no wages will be paid, the intern is not an employee for wage purposes, and the internship does not entitle the intern to a job offer at its conclusion. Well-suited graduates may be considered for future paid openings, consistent with standard hiring practices.
