Job Description
Alchemy is excited to be working with an established international auction house which is looking for a Design Specialist to join their team in New York. The role would suit an experienced specialist with knowledge focused on decorative arts and design from the 19th, 20th and 21st century.
Key responsibilities:
- Source, research and value objects across a broad range of periods, makers and media.
- Negotiate auction terms, estimates and reserves.
- Expand the company client network by both focusing on keeping recurring consignors and attracting new ones.
- Oversee cataloguing and be responsible for all relevant research and authentication.
Key requirements:
- Relevant knowledge and experience within the secondary market of decorative art and design. Excellent client service skills.
- Proven experience of independent valuations, research and sales within the category.
- Strong communication and writing skills.
- Experience within an auction house, design gallery or advisory. Additional spoken languages are welcome.
