Job Description
Working with a company that leverages patented cryptographic technology to enable fully decentralised, post-quantum secure interoperability between devices operating at the edge. Their solutions originated from Oxford research and are now commercially relevant, poised for global application in industrial systems.
The Role
- Design and build low-level, network-centric C and C++ engineering around OSI Layers 2 and 3.
- Focus on secure cloud-to-edge communication, device-to-device authentication, decentralised routing, and secure communication across untrusted networks.
- Influence architectural decisions and contribute to security infrastructure for critical systems globally.
- Operate deep within the network stack, addressing packet behaviour, routing decisions, and tunnelling strategies.
- Develop technology intended for millions of industrial edge devices, ensuring robust deployment and configuration.
What You’ll Need
- Genuine depth in network programming with C and C++.
- Strong working knowledge of Layer 3 OSI protocols, low-level packet analysis, routing (OSPF), TAP/TUN devices, and UDP tunnelling/hole punching.
- Experience with IPTables, packet routing strategies, code threading, multitasking, IPC, shared-memory communication, and Linux kernel-level development.
- Comfort with Linux environments (Debian, CentOS, embedded variants) and ideally understanding of cryptography and secure distributed systems.
- Ability to demonstrate a high level of competence in networking, packet routing, and packet analysis, with meaningful experience in at least three to four key areas.
What’s On Offer
- Significant equity alongside a competitive base salary.
- Opportunity to make a material impact on technology and the company’s future.
- Be part of a small, specialist engineering team where your contributions are highly visible.
