Job Description
Interior Design Showroom Assistant
Procida Tile / PTI IMP, LLC — 430 Commack Road, Deer Park, NY 11729 Full-time, in-person Reports to: Lead Showroom Designer & ManagerAbout Us
Procida Tile is a direct importer and distributor of luxury porcelain and ceramic tile, hand-selected from the most reputable factories in Italy and Spain. We operate a 3,000 square foot luxury showroom in Deer Park serving homeowners, builders, architects, and designers across Long Island and the tri-state area — alongside a wholesale division supplying kitchen and bath showrooms throughout the Northeast.
We are not a tile store with a design desk. We are designers who happen to carry the finest tile available, at factory-direct pricing, with complimentary interior design services and white-glove delivery in our own trucks. Our clients are renovating homes they intend to live in for decades. The experience has to match the product.
A 9-person team runs a business doing over $6 million a year. Everyone here matters, and everyone here is seen.
The Role
You are the operational backbone of the retail showroom. The designers on our floor carry client relationships and projects from first selection through final installation — your job is to make sure nothing behind them drops, and that every client who walks through the door feels like the most important person in the room.
This is a hands-on role. You will be on the floor, on the phone, in the sample library, and in the system — often in the same hour.
What You’ll Do
Client Experience
- Greet and qualify every walk-in client; capture contact information and project scope before they leave.
- Schedule and confirm design appointments; prepare the showroom and pull samples in advance of each one.
- Follow up on every quote, sample checkout, and open lead on a set cadence — nothing sits.
- Answer incoming calls and emails, handle stock checks, and route project inquiries to the right designer.
Design Support 5. Pull and stage tile selections, build sample boards, and assemble presentation materials for client meetings. 6. Perform square-footage take-offs and material calculations, including waste factor, trim, and setting materials. 7. Prepare quotes and estimates for designer review. 8. Maintain client project files so any team member can pick one up cold and know exactly where it stands.
Showroom & Sample Management 9. Keep the showroom floor, displays, and vignettes immaculate — clean, current, correctly labeled, and fully priced. 10. Maintain the sample library: check-in/check-out tracking, restocking, discontinuing dead lines, integrating new arrivals. 11. Flag stale or underperforming displays. Product line turnover is how we stay ahead of the market — you are our eyes on it.
Order & Delivery Coordination 12. Enter retail orders accurately and confirm them the same day. 13. Process and track outside-vendor special orders from PO through arrival; tag and stage on receipt. 14. Coordinate the retail delivery schedule with the warehouse and delivery driver; confirm delivery windows with clients. 15. Verify retail deliveries against orders before they leave the building.
What We’re Looking For
Required
- A. 2+ years in a showroom, retail design, kitchen/bath, flooring, or high-end retail environment.
- B. Genuine comfort with high-end clientele — you can hold a room with a builder, an architect, and a homeowner in it at the same time.
- C. Strong organizational skills with real attention to detail. Our average retail project is significant; a transposed number costs real money.
- D. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Outlook; comfortable learning new systems quickly.
- E. Ability to lift and move sample boards and tile boxes up to 50 lbs, and to be on your feet throughout the day.
- F. Reliable transportation and consistent attendance, including Saturday coverage on a rotating basis.
Preferred
- G. Degree or formal training in interior design, architecture, or a related field.
- H. Working knowledge of tile: formats, finishes, PEI ratings, rectified vs. pressed edge, setting materials.
- I. Experience with design software (SketchUp, AutoCAD, Canva, or similar) and mood board creation.
- J. Existing relationships with local builders, contractors, or the design trade.
