Job Overview

ClaWay is seeking a motivated Software Engineer Intern to join our growing AI engineering team. This internship offers an opportunity to gain hands-on experience building real-world AI-powered software systems focused on autonomous agents, developer tooling, orchestration platforms, and modern web applications.

The ideal candidate is passionate about software engineering, enjoys solving challenging technical problems, and is eager to explore the future of AI-assisted development workflows. As an intern, you will collaborate closely with developers working on cutting-edge agentic systems and contribute to both frontend and backend development initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the development and maintenance of modern web applications using technologies such as TypeScript, React, Next.js, HTML, and CSS.
• Support backend application development using Node.js, Python, Java, and RESTful APIs.
• Contribute to AI-powered workflow systems involving multi-agent orchestration and automation pipelines.
• Work with databases such as PostgreSQL, Firebase, and SQL-based storage solutions.
• Collaborate on integrations with AI APIs, external developer tools, and cloud services.
• Assist in developing real-time communication systems and interactive engineering dashboards.
• Participate in Agile development workflows including sprint planning, testing, debugging, and code reviews.
• Use Git and GitHub for version control and collaborative software development.
• Support deployment and infrastructure tasks involving cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Assist in troubleshooting issues across Linux-based and cloud-hosted environments.
• Contribute ideas toward improving performance, scalability, and developer experience across the platform.

Skills

• Familiarity with modern web development frameworks and frontend technologies.
• Experience or coursework involving JavaScript, TypeScript, Python, Java, or similar programming languages.
• Understanding of REST APIs, backend services, and database systems.
• Exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud Platform, or Azure.
• Familiarity with Git/GitHub and collaborative development workflows.
• Basic understanding of Linux environments and command-line tools.
• Interest in AI systems, automation, developer tooling, or large language model workflows.
• Strong problem-solving skills with a willingness to learn new technologies quickly.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a fast-paced development environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with React, Next.js, Node.js, or Python frameworks.
• Exposure to Docker, CI/CD pipelines, or cloud deployments.
• Interest in AI agents, orchestration systems, or developer productivity tooling.
• Personal projects, hackathons, open-source contributions, or startup experience are considered strong assets.

Job Type

• Internship / Co-op / Part-Time
• Remote or Hybrid (Toronto-based preferred)

Pay: $20.50-$28.50 per hour
