Job Description
Insight Global is seeking an experienced Engineering Project Manager II, III, or IV to lead and deliver complex industrial capital projects. This is an Owner’s Project Manager role responsible for the full CAPEX project lifecycle, from business case development, feasibility studies, scope definition, and cost estimating through engineering oversight, contractor management, construction execution, commissioning, startup, and operational handoff. The Project Manager will serve as the primary leader and decision-maker for capital investments, coordinating cross-functional stakeholders, contractors, operations, maintenance, procurement, and engineering teams to safely execute projects within an active manufacturing environment. Successful candidates will possess a strong engineering background and demonstrated experience managing budgets, schedules, risks, contractors, and technical project requirements while driving projects to completion in heavy industrial settings such as steel, metals, mining, oil & gas, petrochemical, power generation, or other large-scale manufacturing operations. This role requires a hands-on leader who is comfortable in the field, capable of making technical decisions, influencing stakeholders at all levels, and thriving in a fast-paced industrial environment. Preferred candidates will have experience with planned outages, turnarounds, major equipment installations, and facility upgrades, along with proficiency in tools such as Primavera, Microsoft Project, AutoCAD, and Microsoft 365. U.S. Steel is particularly interested in forward-thinking professionals who leverage AI and technology to enhance project planning, scheduling, cost forecasting, risk management, reporting, and overall project execution. Other day to day responsibilities include the following:
- Lead industrial CAPEX projects from planning through commissioning, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget.
- Manage project scope, schedules, budgets, contractors, vendors, and cross-functional stakeholders across Engineering, Operations, and Maintenance.
- Oversee equipment installations, facility upgrades, and plant improvement initiatives within an active manufacturing environment.
- Maintain a strong field presence by walking projects, monitoring progress, resolving issues, and supporting construction activities.
- Coordinate planned outages, shutdowns, and major capital improvements while minimizing impact to production.
- Provide regular project updates, risk assessments, forecasts, and recommendations to plant and engineering leadership.
