Software Engineer

Title: Software Engineer / Backend Developer

Location: Waterloo or Toronto, ON

Work Arrangement: Hybrid — 3 days/week

Contract: 6 months, possible extension

Role Summary

We are looking for experienced backend software developers to join its technology organization and help design, develop and support scalable, secure and reliable business applications.

The developer will work closely with product owners, designers and other engineering teams to deliver high-quality applications and services using modern Java/Spring and microservices technologies.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test and maintain Java-based backend applications
• Develop and maintain RESTful APIs and microservices
• Work with Spring / Spring Boot
• Develop and maintain database-driven applications
• Write clean, maintainable and production-quality code
• Participate in code reviews
• Develop automated unit and integration tests
• Troubleshoot application defects and production issues
• Investigate performance and reliability problems
• Participate in CI/CD and Agile development processes
• Collaborate with product and engineering teams
• Support application deployment and operational activities
• Contribute to technical documentation
• Participate in architecture/design discussions
• Follow secure coding and engineering best practices
