Job Description
As a Senior AI Enablement Engineer at vCluster Labs, you will build and maintain the AI automation our own engineering team depends on. In this role, you will be responsible for automating our engineering workflows end to end, helping the company reduce friction and speed up development tasks with ai tooling. You will build AI agents, MCP servers, and platform services that run on our own infrastructure. Your work will create secure, reliable AI tools that help our teams work more effectively and ship software faster.
As a Senior AI Enablement Engineer, your role will include:
- Building AI-powered engineering automation: Design, build, and operate internal services for workflows such as PR reviews, releases, and Slack-based tools, GitHub and Linear automations.
- Building and running MCP servers: Design, ship, and operate MCP servers that expose vCluster systems to AI agents and developers alike.
- Building agent-ready platforms: Extend our platform services so AI agents can reliably discover and use them, with structured interfaces, relevant context, shared memory, and clear authority boundaries.
- Building automation with engineering teams: Partner closely with developers to identify manual toil and turn the best opportunities into reliable, production-ready workflows.
- Operating AI infrastructure securely: Run agentic workloads on our Kubernetes clusters and managed agent infrastructure, with attention to secrets handling, observability, and usage administration.
This role could be a fit for you if you bring:
- Platform engineering depth: 5+ years as a platform engineer, DevOps engineer, or SRE, with real ownership of deployed services rather than just configuration and deployment work. You know your way around CI/CD, Kubernetes, and Terraform.
- Backend development chops: Comfort writing and shipping backend services, CLIs, or automation pipelines in any language.
- A bias for automation: A track record of noticing manual, repetitive work and building something so it stops needing a human.
- Hands-on AI API experience: You’ve built automation directly against the OpenAI or Anthropic API, not just used AI through a subscription product like a chat client or IDE plugin.
- Security-minded by default: You factor security into automation and infrastructure decisions as a habit, not an afterthought.
Bonus points for:
- Experience with Linear
- You’ve built or contributed to an MCP server, or gone deep on the MCP spec
- Experience with Spacelift or similar infrastructure-as-code automation
- Hands-on experience with GPU infrastructure, including GPU servers, high-speed networking, storage, and Kubernetes-based workloads
About vCluster Labs
We are a venture-backed tech startup and the company pioneering Kubernetes virtualization for the AI era. We raised +$30M from top-tier VCs such as Khosla Ventures (first investor in OpenAI, GitLab, Stripe, Doordash) and are in a hyper-growth phase looking for motivated people to complement our team. Our headquarters are in San Francisco (Salesforce Tower), but our team is distributed around the globe and we have a remote-first work culture.
We are the leading platform for operating GPU infrastructure, enabling AI Cloud providers to deliver a hyperscaler-like experience to their customers and AI factories that need to build that same experience for their internal teams. Our platform delivers the full operational stack operators need to run their GPU data centers — managed Kubernetes, fast isolated tenant provisioning, and automated node provisioning and lifecycle management — enabling them to accelerate time to value, reduce operational burden, and maximize the ROI of every GPU.
We’re the company behind vCluster, an open-source technology for virtualizing Kubernetes (10k+ GitHub stars, 40M+ virtual clusters created since 2021). Open source is part of our DNA. At KubeCon North America 2025, we launched our Infrastructure Tenancy Platform for AI — a Kubernetes-native framework purpose-built for running AI, ML, and GPU-intensive workloads anywhere, with an NVIDIA-validated reference architecture for DGX systems.

We offer the following benefits:
- Competitive Salary: We offer a competitive compensation package, including equity.
