Role Description The SAP Advanced Business Application Programming (ABAP) Developer will design, develop, and maintain SAP applications and custom solutions that support URMILLA’s construction equipment rental operations. Day-to-day responsibilities include writing optimized ABAP code, implementing and enhancing interfaces using IDoc and BAPI, troubleshooting application issues, and collaborating with functional consultants to translate business requirements into technical specifications. The developer will participate in system testing, code reviews, performance tuning, and documentation to ensure stable and scalable SAP solutions. This is a full-time, on-site role based in Chennai, requiring close coordination with local business and IT teams to support ongoing projects and process improvements.

Qualifications

• Candidates should possess strong Programming and Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) skills, with experience applying them in enterprise environments.
• Candidates should possess solid expertise in Advanced Business Application Programming (ABAP), including development of custom reports, forms, enhancements, and SAP standard modifications where appropriate.
• Candidates should possess hands-on experience with IDoc for data exchange and BAPI for integrating and extending SAP functionalities.
• Candidates should possess strong problem-solving abilities, debugging skills, and familiarity with SAP development tools (e.g., ABAP Workbench, SE80, SE37, SE11).
• Candidates should possess good understanding of SAP modules relevant to logistics, asset management, or finance; experience in the construction or equipment rental domain is an advantage.
• Candidates should possess effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work closely with functional teams and end users in an on-site setting.
• Candidates should possess a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Candidates should possess a willingness to learn new SAP technologies, follow coding standards, and adhere to quality and security best practices.
