Job Description

C#/Hedge Fund (ML/AI) — Credit & Fixed Income Trading

New York, NY (onsite) · Full-time · $125,000 – $150,000 base + 25% bonus

A $20B+ hedge fund with a 30-year track record trading credit, mortgage, and fixed income markets — loans, bonds, and derivatives. Research and technology drive the business here — much of senior leadership started in engineering, and the firm is actively investing in AI-augmented workflows across the trading and operations stack, not just talking about it.

This isn’t a cog-in-the-machine role. You’ll sit close to the trading desk, work directly with traders, finance, and operations teams, see your work matter every single day, and help build the systems — and the AI tooling around them — that keep high-volume fixed income trading running cleanly.

What you’ll own:

  • Design, build, and maintain backend services in C# / .NET — RESTful API controllers and endpoints, EF Core and LINQ against SQL Server, and multithreaded, production-grade code — powering fixed income trading systems for reconciliation across loans, bonds, and derivatives
  • SQL pipelines, stored procedures, and daily operational workflows supporting active trading
  • Break identification and resolution across internal and counterparty records
  • Position management, cash management, and P&L reporting modules used by traders and PMs
  • Internal tools, APIs, and workflow development across data engineering domains
  • Production support for time-sensitive systems — portfolio management, risk, trade feeds, operational and accounting systems
  • AI buildouts — integrating LLMs and AI-assisted workflows directly into internal tools and research pipelines, working alongside senior engineers on real production use cases, not pilots

What we’re looking for:

  • 2–4 years of C# development, ideally in financial services or fintech
  • Strong SQL — complex queries, stored procedures, query optimization, performance tuning
  • Back office experience: reconciliation, position keeping, cash or accounting systems
  • Interest in how trading systems actually work — trade lifecycle, settlement, P&L — beyond just writing code against them
  • Genuine fluency with AI-assisted coding tools (Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot) — not just familiarity, real day-to-day use — and a thoughtful approach to using them in production codebases
  • Credit, fixed income, MBS, whole loan, or structured product familiarity a strong plus
  • Self-directed — able to juggle priorities without hand-holding
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science or a related engineering discipline

Why this role:

Real ownership. Real visibility. Direct access to the trading business. Small team, lean environment, no bureaucracy, no black boxes — just solid engineering work that moves markets, with AI woven into how the work actually gets done.
