Job Description

AI Researcher — Perception & Multimodal Learning

Location: New York City, USA (on-site) Employment type: Full-time Compensation: $200,000 – $300,000 + equity Seniority: Senior / PhD-level

About the role

We are recruiting on behalf of a frontier AI lab building models that reason about the physical world — real-time inference over complex sensor data, in national security settings. The company is headquartered in New York City, recently funded, and founded by researchers and engineers from leading frontier model labs and quantitative trading firms. The team is small and growing, and this hire will work directly on the core research that powers the models deployed in the field. The client’s identity is shared with candidates during the first call.

The role

We are looking for researchers with backgrounds in computer vision, multimodal learning, generative modeling, or related areas. You’ll work at the intersection of research and deployment: the models you build reason across multiple sensor modalities in real time and ship into the real world, not just papers.

Research areas include:

  • Video understanding
  • 3D and spatial reasoning
  • Multimodal representation learning
  • Generative modeling
  • Structured environment modeling

Ideal candidates have

  • PhD-level research experience in computer vision, multimodal learning, generative modeling, or a related area — or equivalent experience building perception systems in industry or applied research environments
  • A strong publication record or a track record of shipping perception/ML systems in production
  • Fluency in Python and modern deep learning frameworks (PyTorch)
  • Comfort working in a small, fast-moving team where research goes to deployment quickly
  • Ability to work on-site in New York City (relocation candidates welcome)

Why join

  • Ground-floor role at a recently funded frontier AI lab
  • Direct impact: your research runs in real time on real sensors in the field
  • Competitive compensation ($200K–$300K) plus meaningful equity
  • Work alongside researchers and engineers from leading frontier model companies and quant funds
