Role: Senior PSL Developer (FIS)

Title: AVP/VP

Location: NYC, NY/Alpharetta, GA (Day 1 Onsite/Hybrid) – Full-time

Mode of Work: 3 days/week onsite required

We are seeking an elite, systems-level Senior Core Banking Engineer with over a decade of deep expertise inside the FIS Profile platform. This role is specifically designed for a technical expert who thrives on untangling complex runtime issues, diagnosing high-concurrency database deadlocks, and optimizing critical transaction rails.

You will take ownership of identifying, isolating, and rectifying technical defects within our core banking integration architecture. Specifically, you will lead debugging initiatives across our MUMPS Remote Procedure Call (MRPC) interfaces and Multi-Threaded Message / Message Transaction Manager (MTM) frameworks. This ensures our core ledgers maintain maximum performance, zero data loss, and flawless execution during high-traffic processing windows.

🛠️ Key Responsibilities1. Core Integration & Infrastructure Debugging

• MRPC Diagnostics: Debug and resolve transaction processor (TP) fencing issues, unexpected rollbacks, and nested error flags (ER=1) across external web service and API connections.
• MTM Framework Optimization: Troubleshoot and eliminate threading deadlocks, socket drops, and message loops within the real-time financial message routing pipelines.
• Transaction Performance Tuning: Audit transactional boundaries (TSTART and TCOMMIT) to mitigate heavy database parallel load collisions and reduce CPU overhead caused by TP restarts.

2. Software Development & Maintenance

• Modern to Legacy Translation: Read, interpret, and maintain custom banking logic written in object-oriented PSL, ensuring seamless down-compilation into high-speed native MUMPS routines.
• Hierarchical Database Management: Safely query, modify, and optimize hierarchical global variables (^Global) within the underlying GT.M or InterSystems Caché engines.
• System Logging & Analytics: Trace runtime exceptions, corrupt record states, and integration drops by actively auditing system global registries including MSGLOG and NSMLOG .

3. Collaboration & Architecture

• Cross-Platform Integration: Act as the technical bridge between legacy core banking blocks and modern event-streaming technologies (e.g., Apache Kafka, RESTful APIs).
• Code Quality Assurance: Define best-practice validation wrappers to protect exposed endpoints from faulty, unvalidated input payloads.
• Mentorship: Provide advanced technical guidance to mid-level engineering staff regarding PSL variable scoping rules, cursor boundaries, and database locks.

🧰 Technical Requirements & Qualifications Must-Have Core Skills:

• Platform Experience: Minimum of 10 years of direct software engineering experience inside the FIS Profile core banking environment .
• Language Proficiency: Expert-level mastery of Profile Scripting Language (PSL) and MUMPS (M) programming.
• Integration Expertise: Proven, demonstrable track record debugging and tuning MRPCs and the MTM framework .
• Database Systems: Deep, low-level architectural understanding of hierarchical database paradigms using GT.M (GTM) or Caché .
• Log Diagnostics: Fluent in inspecting and resolving system faults using MSGLOG and NSMLOG system globals.

Domain & Operational Knowledge:

• Thorough comprehension of core retail banking workflows, including Demand Deposit Accounts (DDA), retail ledger structures, and End-of-Day/Beginning-of-Day (EOD/BOD) batch execution arrays.
• Familiarity with modern developer environments, including Visual Studio Code extensions tailored for FIS platform compilation.
