Job Description
I’ve partnered with a globally recognized market-making firm to hire a Hands-On Engineering Manager to lead its Developer Experience team.
This is a hands-on leadership role - not SRE or infrastructure operations. You’ll lead a small, highly technical team responsible for the build platform that powers software development across the business, including source control, build systems, CI/CD, and release tooling.
You’ll be responsible for:
- Leading a multi-year migration to a Bazel-based monorepo across large C++, Java, and Python codebases
- Modernizing build systems, CI/CD, and developer workflows while maintaining production reliability
- Improving build performance, release speed, and developer productivity through scalable engineering solutions
- Leading a team of senior engineers while remaining technically involved
We’re looking for someone with:
- Experience leading build systems or developer platform teams in large engineering organizations
- Deep expertise with Bazel (or Buck2/Pants), CI/CD, and modern build tooling
- A product mindset - building platforms that developers genuinely enjoy using
