Job Description
Abacus Kitchen Bath and Closets is a Long Island–based design and millwork company serving residential and commercial clients across the New York metro area. We handle everything from high-end residential kitchens and baths to custom closets, commercial millwork, and QSR buildouts — all backed by our own cabinet manufacturing capability.
We’re looking for an experienced Kitchen Designer who can take a project from first client meeting through final installation drawings. If you know 20/20 inside and out, can read a field measure, and enjoy sitting across from a client and closing the sale, we want to talk.
Responsibilities
· Meet with clients in the showroom and on site to gather scope, style direction, and budget
· Perform accurate field measurements of existing kitchens, baths, and closets
· Produce complete designs, elevations, and 3D renderings in 20/20 Design software
· Generate cabinet and material specifications, door/finish selections, and accurate takeoffs
· Prepare detailed quotes and proposals; present and revise designs with clients
· Coordinate with in-house millwork/manufacturing, project managers, and installers
· Specify countertops, appliances, hardware, and plumbing fixtures
· Review shop drawings for accuracy prior to release to production
· Maintain project documentation, revisions, and change orders
· Support the sales process from initial consultation through closed contract
Requirements
· Minimum 5 years of professional kitchen and bath design experience
· Proficiency in 20/20 Design software (required)
· Strong working knowledge of cabinet construction, modifications, and standard/custom cabinetry lines
· Ability to accurately field measure and produce dimensioned drawings
· Understanding of appliance specifications, countertop fabrication, and installation requirements
· Familiarity with basic plumbing, electrical, and ventilation rough-in requirements
· Excellent client-facing communication and presentation skills
· Comfortable managing multiple active projects and deadlines
· Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for site visits
Preferred Qualifications
· Experience with commercial millwork or QSR/restaurant buildouts
· Working knowledge of AutoCAD, SketchUp, Chief Architect, or Revit
· NKBA certification (AKBD/CKBD) or equivalent
· Experience with closet and storage system design
· Familiarity with NYC and Long Island building/permit requirements
· Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus
What We Offer
· Competitive base salary plus commission on closed design sales
· In-house manufacturing — your designs actually get built the way you drew them
· Established client base and steady project pipeline
