Starting out with a Practice Architect (50%) and a Senior/Lead Data Modeling Engineer (100% - onshore)

Why client Needs This Data Modeler

client is in the middle of a full rebuild of their data warehouse, and the original version wasn’t designed to scale properly.

Two years ago, their current platform was built quickly with a lot of shortcuts. While it got them up and running, it lacks the structure, consistency, and scalability needed to support the business as it grows.

Now, as the organization matures, they are investing in a modern, enterprise-grade data platform. The key gap is that while the infrastructure is largely in place, the underlying data model, how the data is structured and organized for reporting and analytics, needs to be redesigned from the ground up.

What the Data Modeler Will Actually Do

This role is critical because the company is:

Running two environments in parallel

The existing (legacy) data warehouse

A new, modern platform being built

Migrating and validating data

Ensuring the new platform produces the same (or better) results as the old one

Maintaining accuracy, which is especially important given financial reporting requirements

Rebuilding the data model correctly this time

Defining clean, scalable structures (fact tables, dimensions, etc.)

Ensuring data is optimized for reporting tools like Power BI and Tableau

Eliminating inconsistencies caused by the original “shortcut” build

Overview

Client is seeking a Senior / Lead Data Modeling Engineer to design and build a scalable data model within a modern data environment. This role will focus heavily on data modeling, SQL development, and Python-based data processing, supporting downstream analytics and reporting across the organization. The infrastructure is already in place, but the core data model needs to be developed. This individual will play a key role in structuring data in a way that supports accurate reporting, analytics, and long-term scalability.

Responsibilities

Design and build scalable data models to support analytics and reporting needs

Develop and maintain data warehouse structures, including fact and dimension tables

Write and optimize SQL queries for data transformation and reporting

Use Python to support data ingestion, transformation, and data processing workflows

Work with existing data pipelines to hydrate and structure data into usable models

Collaborate with reporting teams to ensure data is optimized for tools such as Power BI and Tableau

Support the creation of reporting datasets and ensure strong data integrity and consistency

Apply best practices in data warehousing and modeling to support long-term platform scalability

Required Qualifications

7+ years of experience in data engineering or data modeling roles

Strong expertise in SQL, with a focus on data modeling and data warehousing

Hands-on experience designing and building data models (dimensional modeling, star schemas, etc.)

Strong Python experience for data processing, transformation, and workflow support

Experience working in financial services with an understanding of financial data and reporting requirements

Strong understanding of data integrity, validation, and working within regulated environments

Experience supporting BI and reporting tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working with Snowflake

Familiarity with Azure Data Factory (ADF) for pipeline orchestration

Understanding of modern data architecture and best practices

Additional Information

This role is highly focused on data modeling, SQL, and Python-driven data processing rather than heavy pipeline development

Azure Data Factory pipelines are already established, so deep ADF expertise is not required

The ideal candidate will have experience building data models from the ground up and supporting reporting use cases
