Job Description
Younity builds and operates the connectivity and building-technology infrastructure behind modern residential communities. We deliver managed internet and Wi-Fi to residents and common areas, support building owners and property managers, and operate low-voltage systems including CCTV, intercom, access control, and connected devices.
We are hiring a hands-on Network Engineer in New York City to design, deploy, operate, and troubleshoot production networks across a growing portfolio of residential buildings and business customers. You will work across the full service lifecycle—from site survey and implementation through monitoring, escalation, maintenance, and improvement.
This is not a narrow corporate-network role. On any given day, you may configure a firewall, troubleshoot a wireless issue affecting residents, investigate a camera or intercom connectivity problem, coordinate work with a field technician, support a property manager during an incident, or help automate a repetitive operational task.
If you have supported distributed networks for an ISP, MSP, managed Wi-Fi provider, enterprise field team, hospitality operator, or building-technology company—and you enjoy owning problems through resolution—this role was built for you.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Design, configure, deploy, and maintain production networks across residential buildings, common areas, and business-customer environments.
- Configure and troubleshoot switching, routing, VLANs, DHCP, firewalls, VPNs, NAT, Wi-Fi, and customer-edge infrastructure.
- Deploy, integrate, and support low-voltage and building IT systems, including CCTV, intercom, access control, IoT, and other IP-connected devices.
- Monitor network health and performance, investigate alerts, and resolve outages, bugs, capacity issues, and recurring service problems.
- Own technical escalations from diagnosis through resolution, documentation, customer communication, and preventive follow-up.
- Support both B2C and B2B customers, including residents, property managers, building owners, management companies, and commercial clients.
- Perform site surveys and on-site troubleshooting in MDFs, IDFs, apartments, common areas, rooftops, and other building spaces.
- Coordinate effectively with field technicians, low-voltage contractors, carriers, vendors, electricians, and internal support and project teams.
- Plan and execute new-building deployments, migrations, upgrades, cutovers, and maintenance windows in live customer environments.
- Test and validate configurations, firmware, equipment, and deployment standards before production rollout.
- Create and maintain accurate technical documentation, diagrams, standards, troubleshooting procedures, and operational handoffs.
- Help turn repeatable diagnostics, configuration logic, and remediation steps into automation, monitoring, and internal tools.
- Participate in the shared on-call rotation and respond to critical incidents and planned maintenance when required.
HOW WE WORK
We’re an ISP and managed-services company. Residents and building customers depend on us around the clock, so our operating principles are practical:
- Ownership. You own the outcome, not only the task assigned to you, and stay engaged until the customer-impacting issue is resolved.
- Investigate before escalating. Gather evidence, test assumptions, and bring a working theory and clear next steps.
- Customer context matters. A technically correct answer is only useful when it solves the resident’s, property manager’s, or building operator’s actual problem.
- Calm urgency. Incidents require speed, structure, communication, and sound judgment—not panic.
- Practical engineering. We value reliable, supportable solutions over unnecessary complexity.
- Shared Coverage. Our services run around the clock, so you will join a shared on-call rotation and support urgent incidents, after-hours maintenance, and customer-impacting events when needed.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Must-haves
- 2+ years of hands-on network engineering, network operations, or advanced network-support experience in an ISP, MSP, managed Wi-Fi, enterprise, hospitality, or other production environment.
- Strong practical knowledge of IP networking, VLANs, DHCP, routing, switching, firewalls, VPNs, NAT, and network security.
- Hands-on wireless networking experience, including deployment, monitoring, and troubleshooting in multi-AP environments.
