AI / DevOps Engineer – Agentic Systems & Automation

As a LeadDevOps Engineer reporting to the AVP – Systems and Network Administration, you’ll play a critical role in building and operating intelligent automation platforms, AI agents, and orchestration frameworks that support mission-critical systems, engineering workflows, and operational tooling across Nasdaq.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, operate, and continuously improve AI agents that automate operational, engineering, and support workflows.

• Develop agent orchestration frameworks using large language models (LLMs), tool integrations, structured workflows, and workflow-based automation patterns.

• Build and maintain automation pipelines that combine AI reasoning and decision-making with deterministic systems, controls, and operational processes.

• Implement Python-based services supporting AI agent execution, control, and integration with internal platforms including APIs, ITSM systems, CI/CD pipelines, and observability tools.

• Design and evolve CI/CD pipelines for AI-enabled services and automation platforms.

• Serve as an escalation point for complex AI and automation issues while identifying opportunities to improve reliability and reduce manual effort through agentic automation.

• Document architectures and workflows, research emerging AI technologies, and develop proofs of concept to evaluate new capabilities.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.

• Expert-level Python development experience with strong knowledge of automation and orchestration frameworks.

• Experience designing and supporting CI/CD pipelines, working with Git, and integrating systems through REST APIs.

• Proficiency in YAML and JSON.

• Experience building AI agents, autonomous systems, or AI-driven automation solutions, with familiarity with LLMs, prompt engineering, and tool-calling frameworks.

• Experience combining AI decision logic with deterministic automation and designing event-driven, workflow-based systems.

• Strong analytical and systems-thinking skills.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work independently in ambiguous environments and collaborate effectively across global teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Terraform, infrastructure-as-code practices, Ansible, or other configuration management tools.

• Experience with JavaScript, databases, and modern application development technologies.

• Experience working within financial services, fintech, or other regulated industries.

This position will be located in New YorkCityor Philadelphia and offers the opportunity for a hybrid work environment at least 3 days a week in-office, subject to change, providing flexibility and accessibility for qualified candidates.

The base pay range for this role is $139,000 - $243,000. In addition to base salary, Nasdaq provides a generous annual bonus/commission (short-term incentive), and equity (long-term incentive), comprehensive benefits, and opportunity for growth.
