Job Description
About Scout
Scout is an early-stage shopping app built on a simple belief: people already know what they want. We’re not here to tell you what to buy — we’re here to help you figure out the best time and way to buy it. Think of us as the smartest friend you have who happens to know everything about deals, timing, and value. We’re building tools that work for shoppers, not brands.
What You’ll Do
- Design end-to-end user flows and high-fidelity mockups for Scout’s iOS app and browser extensions in Figma
- Partner directly with the founder, PM interns, and engineers to turn rough product ideas into shippable, tested designs
- Run lightweight usability tests and synthesize feedback into design iterations
- Maintain and evolve Scout’s design system (components, spacing, typography) so the product feels consistent across surfaces
- Prototype new features and interactions before engineering builds them, to catch friction early
- Contribute to Scout’s brand and visual identity across in-app and marketing touchpoints
Who You Are
- Currently enrolled in a Design, HCI, UX/UI, or related program
- Comfortable in Figma (or hungry to learn our workflow fast) — bring a portfolio of real projects, even class work
- Understand core UX principles: information architecture, usability heuristics, accessibility
- Can talk through your design decisions — not just “it looks better,” but why
- Self-directed and comfortable in an early-stage environment where requirements evolve
- Eligible to receive academic credit through your university
Our Tools
- Design: Figma
- Product surfaces: iOS app (Swift), Chrome and Safari browser extensions
- Docs: Notion
- Comms: Slack
- Pipeline: Monday.com
This Role Is Perfect For You If…
You want real product design reps — not a portfolio project in a vacuum. You’ll design for real users, watch your work ship in a weekly release cycle, and work shoulder-to-shoulder with the founder and engineering team on a live consumer app.
What You’ll Get
- Academic credit (we’ll work with your school)
- Shipped design work you can point to in your portfolio — not just mockups, real product
- Direct mentorship from a founder with deep experience in consumer tech and digital commerce
- A front-row seat to building a consumer startup from the ground up
