Responsibilities

• Identify and document noteworthy NYC happenings, venues, openings, limited-time launches, exhibitions, performances, neighborhood shifts, social scenes, and lifestyle trends.
• Deliver short-form content, social captions, event recommendations, List / Map / Calendar materials, field observations, or first drafts of articles based on Karpo briefs.
• Support on-site content capture for offline events, including photos, short videos, user observations, host interviews, event recaps, and publishable details.
• Conduct basic fact-checking on potential leads, including time, location, pricing, registration method, organizer, target audience, and whether an item is genuinely worth recommending.
• Bring local context, on-the-ground texture, and first-hand material into Karpo’s website content, social content, and independent editorial planning.

Requirements

• Based in NYC long-term or highly active in the city, with genuine interest in local food, events, performances, exhibitions, neighborhoods, wellness, social sports, campus life, or cultural scenes.
• Have experience in at least one of the following: English writing, social copywriting, photography / short-form video, blogging, student media, newsletters, foodie or lifestyle accounts, or event coverage.
• Able to describe a place, event, or social scene in a concise, accurate, and vivid way, while adding your own judgment and local context.
• Sensitive to information accuracy and publishing timing, and willing to conduct basic verification and updates.
• Able to deliver on time based on a brief and comfortable receiving editorial feedback and revisions.

Bonus Points

• Experience with NYC local lifestyle media, campus media, social accounts, event organizing, photo/video production, or creator collaborations.
• Deep familiarity with a specific niche or community, such as coffee, food, nightlife, art, music, sports, wellness, campus life, international students, queer community, or book clubs.
• Available to support on-site event shooting, interviews, or field reporting.
• Able to write in both Chinese and English, or bring a cross-cultural perspective.

• 发现并记录纽约本地值得关注的活动、场地、开业与限定信息、展览演出、街区变化、社交场景和生活方式趋势。
• 根据 Karpo Brief 完成短内容、社媒 caption、活动推荐、List / Map / Calendar 素材、现场观察或文章初稿。
• 支持线下活动的现场素材采集，包括照片、短视频、用户观察、Host 访谈、活动 recap 和可发布细节。
• 对候选信息进行基础核实，包括时间、地点、价格、报名方式、主办方、适合人群，以及是否真正值得推荐。
