Principal Design Engineer

For our client, we are seeking a Principal Design Engineer to join the team of a leader in the Enterprise Technology space. This role will lead work at the intersection of data, AI-enabled capabilities, and scalable technology delivery. You will work across engineering, product, operations, and business stakeholders to translate complex requirements into practical technology solutions. The position offers the opportunity to influence architecture, execution quality, and the technology capabilities that enable long-term growth within a technology-driven environment.

Location: New York, NY - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available

Compensation: $263,000 – $362,000 annually

Responsibilities

• Create high-fidelity prototypes and interaction models for AI-driven workflows
• Own high-impact design initiatives from concept through to production
• Lead technical design discussions and make architectural decisions
• Advance the company’s design system for consistency and scalability
• Collaborate with product managers and engineers to ensure user needs are met
• Advocate for design quality during product development
• Mentor and guide team members to elevate design culture

Qualifications

• 12+ years of experience in product design or related disciplines
• Bachelor’s degree in design, computer science, or related field preferred
• Experience with modern front-end technologies (HTML/CSS, JavaScript/TypeScript, React)
• Hands-on experience creating AI-powered design solutions and leveraging AI in design processes
• Expertise in applying modern AI technologies to design challenges
• Proven track record of shipping production-ready products and influencing design choices across teams
• Strong communication and collaboration skills with varied stakeholders
