About the role

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will enjoy working on a diverse and exciting range of projects across various clients and industries. We are a technology agnostic business which opens endless possibilities for you to work across multiple tech stacks and multiple platforms with the opportunity to upskill and cross skill.

For this role you will be skilled across Python and React. We are open to your preference, if you are a specialist in Python with solid experience in React - or a React specialist with solid experience in Python, we want to speak to you!

Your day-to-day

• Implement technology solutions that meet and exceed customer requirements and expectations.
• Develop high-quality code that can function with existing code, patterns and architectural techniques.
• Leverage and advocate for AI-assisted development tools (eg: Claude/Cline) to accelerate development.
• Implement structured agentic workflows (setup-plan-act) across team development practices.
• Lead by example in reviewing and refining AI-generated code, ensuring it meets architectural standards.
• Effectively utilise development best practices such as CI/CD and test integrations.
• Ensure appropriate quality is maintained through practices such as unit testing.
• Design systems that can be managed effectively in production environments.
• Help our clients maintain and run reliable applications and systems.
• Lead small teams - delegate effectively, communicate and develop others.
• Proactively identify and address issues outside of direct responsibility.
• Go-to expert in one or more technical areas.
• Use professional judgement while treating colleagues and clients with respect and compassion, and a demonstrated ability to display our Mantel principles.

What you’ll need to be successful:

• Experience developing applications, consuming and developing APIs, and following technical best practices & design patterns.
• Demonstrated skills writing automated test routines for developed code including unit, regression, performance, and load testing.
• Dedication to software development best practices (e.g. CI/CD pipelines) and core software engineering fundamentals.
• An understanding of API gateway technologies such as Kong &/or Apigee.
• The ability to code well in your language(s) of choice and have a willingness to learn new ones.
• Experience building and maintaining cloud-based applications across AWS, Azure or GCP.
• Proficiency or interest in AI-assisted coding tools.
• Understanding of AI code security, quality assurance and when human oversight is critical.
• A self-starter mindset and an ability to work hands-on, to find answers and work with ambiguity.
• A passion for sharing your knowledge with others, a willingness to tackle the tricky problem and get hands-on by pair programming with colleagues.
