Packaging Designer

**Full-Time In-Office New York City, NY**

Almar Sales Company is seeking a creative, detail-oriented Packaging Designer to join our growing team in New York City. This full-time, in-office role is ideal for someone who has a passion for creating eye-catching retail packaging, understands consumer product branding, and enjoys bringing products from concept to shelf.

At Almar Sales Company, we develop trend-forward products for major national retailers across the beauty, hair accessories, cosmetics, skincare, dress-up, seasonal, toys, and lifestyle categories. We are looking for a designer who can create compelling packaging that stands out at retail while balancing creativity, functionality, and production requirements.

Responsibilities

• Design innovative retail packaging for beauty, hair accessories, cosmetics, skincare, toys, dress-up, seasonal, and lifestyle products
• Create packaging systems including blister cards, header cards, boxes, window cartons, hang tags, labels, inserts, and PDQs
• Develop new branding, packaging concepts, graphics, and visual identities for both private label and proprietary brands
• Produce photorealistic packaging mockups and product renderings for customer presentations and sales meetings
• Prepare production-ready artwork files and mechanicals for overseas factories and print vendors
• Ensure artwork meets print production specifications, dielines, color standards, barcode placement, legal copy, and retailer requirements
• Collaborate with Product Development, Merchandising, Sales, and Overseas Production teams throughout the product development process
• Manage multiple packaging projects from concept through final production approval
• Stay current on packaging trends, retail merchandising, materials, printing techniques, sustainability initiatives, and consumer insights
• Assist with product photography, image retouching, Amazon listing graphics, presentations, catalogs, and other marketing materials as needed
• Review production proofs and packaging artwork to ensure accuracy before manufacturing

Qualifications

• 3+ years of packaging design experience in consumer products preferred
• Strong portfolio showcasing retail packaging, branding, print production, and consumer product design
• Experience designing packaging for beauty, cosmetics, hair accessories, fashion accessories, toys, gift, or lifestyle products strongly preferred
• Expert proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign)
• Experience using AI tools such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, or similar platforms to enhance creative workflows
• Strong understanding of print production, packaging construction, dielines, prepress, color management, and production-ready artwork
• Excellent typography, composition, branding, and color skills
• Experience creating realistic product mockups and presentation materials
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Exceptional attention to detail, organization, and communication skills
• Experience working with overseas manufacturers and packaging vendors is a plus
• Knowledge of retailer packaging requirements and merchandising standards is preferred
