Job Description
Forward Deployed Engineer - (AI)
New York City - Onsite
$180k base + uncapped bonus upside (OTE $200k - $600k+)
We’re partnered with a fast-growing applied AI firm that embeds strong engineering teams directly inside enterprise clients to design and ship production AI systems. The work is genuinely hands-on. You’ll be in real production codebases, working with real users, building the kind of systems clients rely on every day.
This is a full-stack engineering role first. We’re looking for well-rounded software engineers who have shipped production software on a team and are comfortable moving across the whole stack, from React front ends to backend services and infrastructure. On top of that, you’ll own projects end-to-end: walking into a client’s environment, designing the AI workflow that changes how their teams work, building it, and staying close as it scales.
What you’ll do:
- Design, build, and maintain modern web applications end-to-end, across React/TypeScript and backend services.
- Build and ship agentic AI applications using modern LLMs, integrated into real enterprise systems and data.
- Own architecture, implementation, and deployment. Nothing gets handed off.
- Ramp fast into unfamiliar codebases, from greenfield to legacy.
- Use agentic coding tools (Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, and whatever ships next) to move quickly without dropping quality.
What we’re looking for:
- 3+ years of professional software engineering experience, with production software shipped on a team.
- Strong full-stack ability: React/TypeScript on the front, Python and/or Node and backend infrastructure behind it.
- Hands-on experience building agentic applications with LLMs, RAG, or similar.
- Comfort operating with high autonomy in ambiguous, fast-moving situations.
- A formal computer science or engineering background is a bonus, as is prior tech lead or founder/CTO experience.
- Public GitHub, side projects, or shipped work that shows real technical depth is a strong signal.
Customer-facing or forward-deployed experience is a plus but not required. Strong communication matters, and we’ll assess the client-facing side as part of the process.
