Job Description
Legal Assistant – Workers’ Compensation & Personal Injury (Part-Time Hybrid)
Law Offices of William Toppi is seeking an organized, detail-oriented Part-Time Legal Assistant with experience in California Workers’ Compensation and Personal Injury matters. This is a hybrid position, with a combination of remote work and in-office responsibilities. We are looking for someone who is proactive, dependable, and able to work independently while providing outstanding client service.
Responsibilities
- Prepare, file, and manage Workers’ Compensation and Personal Injury documents
- Prepare and electronically file documents through EAMS
- Utilize TruFile Direct for electronic filings
- Prepare Applications for Adjudication and Declarations of Readiness to Proceed (DORs)
- Draft correspondence and legal documents
- Maintain and organize electronic and physical case files
- Calendar deadlines, hearings, and appointments
- Communicate with clients, insurance companies, medical providers, and opposing counsel
- Interpret and communicate effectively with Spanish-speaking clients
- Answer phones, schedule appointments, and provide excellent customer service
- Assist the attorney with all aspects of case management from intake through resolution
Qualifications
- Experience handling California Workers’ Compensation and Personal Injury cases
- Working knowledge of EAMS and TruFile Direct
- Experience preparing Applications for Adjudication and Declarations of Readiness to Proceed
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple cases simultaneously
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Professional, dependable, and able to work independently
- Ability to communicate with Spanish-speaking clients
- Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred
