AI & Automation - Operations - Hedge Fund New York

A leading investment firm is building out an AI-driven operations function and hiring someone to build and maintain the AI-assisted workflows that the operations team relies on day to day.

This is a role for someone who wants to take real operational friction and automate it. You’ll sit close to the operations function, identify the repetitive manual processes that slow the team down, and prototype practical solutions to fix them. The work spans the full trade lifecycle, reconciliation and break resolution, client and account onboarding, and incident management, with plenty of scope to shape how these processes evolve as the function matures.

Day to day, you’ll be building and maintaining automation tooling, briefing tools, classifiers and reconciliation checks. You’ll support the data pipeline work that connects operations systems to AI tooling, and maintain clear documentation and runbooks so the tools you build are actually adopted and trusted by the team. This is hands-on building rather than strategy work, and you’ll see the impact of what you ship quickly.

What we’re looking for:

• Background in investment management operations, prime brokerage, fund administration, or fintech

• Working fluency in Python and SQL

• Comfort calling LLM APIs and building lightweight automations

• Experience building internal tools rather than purely theoretical AI knowledge

• A strong understanding of how operational workflows function and where they break

• High attention to detail and genuine curiosity about the problems you’re solving
