Azure Database SME - Migration & Modernization

Key Responsibilities

• Define and execute end-to-end database migration strategies from AWS and on-premises platforms to Azure.
• Perform schema conversion, database migration, and workload modernization activities.

• Design and implement solutions using:

• Azure SQL
• Azure Cosmos DB

• Other Azure-native database services

• Ensure database performance, scalability, availability, and security.
• Perform performance tuning, indexing, and query optimization.
• Validate data integrity and consistency throughout migration activities.
• Support application modernization initiatives by aligning database architecture with target-state solutions.
• Collaborate with infrastructure, DevOps, application, and cloud teams during migration programs.
• Support testing, validation, cutover, and production readiness activities.
• Create technical documentation and migration runbooks.

Must-Have Skills

Database Technologies

• Strong hands-on experience with:

• Azure SQL Database
• Azure Cosmos DB
• NoSQL databases

Migration & Modernization

• Experience migrating databases from:

• AWS

• On-premise environments

• Strong understanding of migration methodologies and tools

AWS Database Exposure

• Experience with:

• DynamoDB

• OpenSearch

• Understanding of cloud database architectures

Performance Optimization

• Expertise in:

• Query tuning
• Indexing strategies
• Performance monitoring
• Capacity planning

Cloud & Automation

• Exposure to:

• Azure cloud services
• Infrastructure as Code
• CI/CD pipelines
• DevOps practices

Good-to-Have Skills

• Terraform
