Our client is seeking a highly skilled Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) to lead quality engineering initiatives for a modern full-stack cloud platform built on PHP, Node.js, Angular, and Snowflake. The ideal candidate will design scalable automation frameworks, implement end-to-end testing strategies, integrate quality gates into CI/CD pipelines, and champion a shift-left testing culture. This is a high-ownership role offering the opportunity to influence QA architecture, tooling, and engineering best practices while ensuring the reliability of a platform that analyzes millions in cloud spend.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and own the end-to-end testing strategy, quality policies, and Definition of Done.
• Design, develop, and maintain scalable UI, API, and data-layer automation frameworks.
• Build and manage automation suites using Selenium, Playwright, or Cypress.
• Develop automated testing solutions for RESTful APIs.
• Perform manual and exploratory testing where automation is not feasible.
• Integrate automated quality gates into CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab, or Azure DevOps.
• Collaborate with DevOps teams to manage Docker/Kubernetes-based test environments.
• Create utilities for deterministic test data generation and environment provisioning.
• Partner with engineering teams to reproduce, debug, and resolve defects efficiently.
• Conduct root cause analysis and strengthen regression coverage.
• Develop dashboards, quality metrics, flake tracking, and pipeline analytics.
• Drive continuous quality improvements using KPIs such as test coverage, defect trends, and MTTR.
• Mentor junior SDETs and promote shift-left testing across engineering teams.
• Participate in sprint planning, story grooming, code reviews, and technical discussions.

Required Skills

• 5+ years of experience in QA Automation or SDET roles.
• 2–3 years of experience leading QA automation strategy or implementing quality processes.
• Strong expertise in UI automation using Selenium, Playwright, or Cypress.
• Strong programming skills in TypeScript/JavaScript.
• Working knowledge of PHP and/or Java.
• Experience testing RESTful APIs and distributed applications.
• Hands-on experience integrating automated testing into CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience working with Docker and Kubernetes environments.
• Strong understanding of HTTP, DOM, CORS, authentication flows, and modern SPA frameworks.
• Expertise in SQL and data validation using Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery, or similar platforms.
• Experience with defect triage, root cause analysis, Agile/Scrum methodologies, and JIRA.
• Excellent debugging, analytical, communication, and collaboration skills.

Nice-to-Have Skills

• Experience with Angular, React, or Vue.js applications.
• Exposure to performance, security (OWASP), reliability, and observability testing.
• Knowledge of cloud platforms and distributed systems.
• Experience creating QA dashboards and test analytics.
• Familiarity with service virtualization and mock frameworks.
• Experience mentoring QA engineers and driving quality engineering culture.
• Startup experience with high ownership and autonomy.
