Catering Assistant

Your role at St John of God Burwood Hospital We are seeking applications for a Catering Assistant to join our Burwood Catering team.

You will be primarily responsible for supporting all areas of the Catering Department, including the preparation, production and service of meals for patients, caregivers and visitors. You will assist with cleaning, general kitchen duties and stock movement, while ensuring food service areas are maintained to a high standard of cleanliness and presentation at all times.

The role is offered on a Permanent Part Time basis , working 22 hours per week Monday to Sunday am & pm shifts.

The Position:

• Help prepare food and serve meals for patients, visitors and staff.
• Maintain work practice according to hospital policies, procedures and standards.
• Participate in Departmental Quality Assurance and Continuous Quality Improvement projects
• Demonstrate safe food practices as per HACCP guidelines.
• Demonstrate ability to prioritise situations as they occur in the course of the shift.
• Manage own workload and complete agreed upon duty statement for that area/section by the completion of each shift.

You will have an understanding of the NSW Health & Food Safety requirements, experience in food preparation and excellent communication & customer service skills.

Successful applicants will preferably have experience working in a café environment, including cold larder preparation, salad preparation and sandwich making. They will also be well presented, maintain high standards of personal hygiene, and demonstrate a strong understanding of infection prevention and control principles, ensuring compliance with all relevant hygiene requirements.

• Salary: $53,483 per annum (pro rata for part time), plus 12% superannuation
