About Paxmeet
Paxmeet (paxmeet.com) is a social events app built to turn strangers into friends across Indian metros — join a badminton game, host a trek, find your circle. We’re live on iOS and Android and growing through college campuses and city communities. We’re now raising the bar on how the app feels — and this role owns that.
The bar
CRED’s card interactions. Strava’s progress and celebration moments. Duolingo’s streaks and juice. Instagram’s ability to change its UI overnight without an app update. If your first instinct when you open those apps is to slow the transitions down and figure out how they’re built — this role is for you. We are not looking for someone who assembles stock Material widgets. We’re looking for someone who builds interfaces people screenshot, on an architecture we can reshape from the server.
What you’ll build
- Server-driven UI engine — Instagram/Swiggy-style: screens and components rendered from server-defined JSON, so we can change layouts, launch campaigns, and ship festival themes (Diwali, Holi, fest season) without waiting on app-store releases
- Gamification systems — streaks, reliability scores, badges, XP, circle leaderboards, animated progress rings and counters
- Celebration moments — “plan confirmed!”, streak milestones, first-event completions, with confetti, haptics, and character animations that make users feel something
- Custom component library — bespoke cards, bottom sheets, transitions, and interaction patterns that give Paxmeet its own visual identity (no default-Material look) — built so every component is addressable by the SDUI layer
- Animation integration — bring our Rive/Lottie character assets to life in-app with runtime state machines
- Core product surfaces — events feed, circles, profiles, RSVP flows — shipped fast and polished
Responsibilities
- Architect the server-driven UI system: component registry, JSON schema, payload versioning, graceful fallbacks on older app versions, offline caching, and analytics/action binding (taps → navigation, deep links, API calls)
- Ship at startup pace: weekly releases, features owned end-to-end from Figma handoff to production
- Build smooth, 60fps+ experiences that hold up on budget Android phones — that’s where our users are
- Create reusable custom widgets and keep the component architecture clean and scalable
- Profile and kill jank: you treat dropped frames as bugs
- Collaborate tightly with our product designer and founders; iterate on feedback in hours, not weeks
Required skills
- 2+ years of Flutter with published apps on Play Store / App Store you can link to
- Server-driven / dynamic UI experience — a custom JSON-to-widget system, rfw (Remote Flutter Widgets), Stac/Mirai, or equivalent — or clearly demonstrable systems-design ability to architect one from scratch
- Deep fluency with Flutter’s animation framework — implicit and explicit animations, AnimationController, tweens, staggered and physics-based (spring) animations, hero transitions
- CustomPainter and custom widgets — you can build components that don’t exist in any package
- Rive and/or Lottie runtime integration experience
- Firebase Remote Config or equivalent feature-flag/config-driven UI experience
- Performance discipline — DevTools profiling, shader-jank awareness, frame-budget thinking, low-end device testing
- Solid state management (Riverpod, Bloc, or similar) and clean API integration
- A shipping mindset — you’d rather release and iterate than polish in a branch for a month
Bonus skills
- Shorebird code push (over-the-air Dart patches) in production
- A/B testing infrastructure (Firebase A/B Testing, GrowthBook, or custom)
- Custom shaders (FragmentProgram) and Impeller-era rendering knowledge
- Haptics and micro-feedback sensibility — you know a great tap feels different
- Published pub.dev packages or open-source Flutter work
- Firebase/Supabase backend familiarity; CI/CD for fast release cycles
Compensation & growth
- Rs. 15,000/month · Freelance/contract · Remote, flexible hours
- Long-term engagement for the right person — scope and pay grow as Paxmeet grows
- Founding-engineer-level ownership of the app’s entire interaction layer AND its rendering architecture — the kind of work that becomes the centerpiece of your portfolio
