Job Description
Position: Comedy Content & Production Assistant
Type: Freelance / Contract (8 weeks, with potential to extend)
Rate: $30 per hour
Commitment: 8 hours per week
About Us:
Sweeney & Ethan Presents is a comedy production company that creates unforgettable live comedy experiences across Australia and worldwide. We are passionate about supporting artists, entertaining audiences, and having a blast along the way.
The Role:
This is primarily a content and marketing role, helping us create, coordinate and publish the material that gets people laughing online and booking tickets. You’ll spend most of your time managing social media, developing content ideas, writing copy, coordinating creative assets and helping bring our shows to life online.
Alongside that, you’ll lend a hand with the behind-the-scenes administration that keeps comedy tours and festival seasons running smoothly. That might mean managing calendars, registering shows, preparing call sheets, liaising with artists and venues, or occasionally jumping in to help on the ground before a show.
If you’re looking for a role that’s mostly creative, with a practical introduction to the world of live event production, you’ll fit right in.
Currently we’re seeking someone for 8 hours per week, with intent to review and extend at the end of an 8-week period.
Why you’ll love it:
- Work when and where you want, set your own hours.
- Free tickets to shows (obviously).
- Potential to travel for work.
- Mentorship and insights into the festival and touring circuit in Australia and worldwide.
- The perfect first job for anyone studying performing arts or chasing production experience.
About you:
- You have a great sense of humour (mandatory).
- You love comedy and live events.
- You have an ABN.
- You’re (ideally) located in Melbourne; a car is a bonus.
- You’re no stranger to social media and what’s trending.
- You can get people’s attention with your copy-writing skills.
- You know your way around Excel and Adobe .
- You know when to be fussy about the details, and when Chat GPT will probably do the trick.
- You’re happy to tackle a wide range of tasks, and keen to learn new skills along the way.
What You’ll Actually Do:
- Manage our socials: scheduling posts on our Insta, TikTok, LinkedIn and Youtube
- Generate Content: review live show footage, coordinate our video editor and brainstorm new ideas
- Assist with promo: writing punchy copy, whip up striking posters, graphic design and video editing that hooks viewers.
- Help us roll out tours: manage calendars, register our shows for Festivals, compile call sheets, liaise with artists and venues.
- Be an occasional extra set of hands on the ground, doing whatever needs doing before doors open!
Ideal for:
Early-career professionals seeking work in marketing or events.
Anyone wanting to gain insight into the behind-the-scenes of live comedy tours and festivals.
If you’re organised, enthusiastic, and love comedy as much as we do, we want to hear from you.
