About Navillus

Navillus is one of New York’s leading general contractors, building the schools, transit, and landmark projects that the city runs on. We are also doing something almost no contractor our size is doing: building our own AI and IT systems in-house.

About the role

The AI Deployment Graduate scheme is a six-month, intensive, fast-track program designed to take a sharp, creative, independent graduate from basic AI integration to independent, self-directed deployment work through learning-by-building the real tools that Navillus use.

You will start paired closely with our existing AI work: learning how we build, how we connect our systems, and how we deploy safely into a live business. Within weeks you should expect to lead your own projects end to end, deciding what to build, how to build it, and putting it in front of users. The goal by month six is simple: you can take a messy, real-world business problem and independently architect, build, and deploy an AI or software solution for it.

You’ll work directly with the people running Navillus’s AI effort, with project managers, and with senior leadership to direct AI policy in the business.

What you’ll do

As you progress through the scheme, you will:

• Build custom applications. Design and ship bespoke internal software that replaces manual spreadsheets and clunky processes. Things like attendance and time-tracking systems, leave and holiday trackers, compliance reporting, and operational dashboards. You’ll own these from first commit to live deployment.
• Create bespoke solutions for Project Managers. Build the tailored tools and AI assistants our PMs actually need. Surfacing RFIs, submittals, change events, budgets, and meeting minutes directly inside the systems they already use
• Replace expensive SaaS subscriptions with software we own. Identify the off-the-shelf services that cost us money or box us in, and build self-hosted, fit-for-purpose replacements that we control end to end which cheaper, more flexible, and tailored exactly to the Navillus workflow
• Teach our people to get the most out of AI. Help project managers and office staff become genuinely effective with AI tools — building clear onboarding material, running hands-on sessions, sitting with people to understand where they get stuck, and feeding what you learn back into the tools you build. The best AI integration is worthless if no one adopts it; you’ll make sure they do.

You may be a good fit if you:

• Are a recent graduate (or about to graduate)
• Can demonstrate exceptional ability through projects, internships, or things you’ve built yourself, not necessarily in software engineering or tech
• Love creating, and working with others to create. You have personal or academic projects you can show and talk about, and you finish what you start.
• Are excited about the singularity
• Are contempt of complacent
• Can explain a technical idea simply, and have the patience to help a non-technical colleague who is stuck
• Are self-directed and resourceful. You’ll be given real ownership early and are expected to run with it and figure out solutions in real time.
