Job Description
About the job
This role is being recruited by CoffeeSpace on behalf of a high-growth commerce technology company building an AI-native platform for DTC operators.
We’re identifying a small number of exceptional staff-level engineers from our network.
If there’s a strong fit, we’ll introduce you directly to the hiring team.
Location: Remote, US-based. Hybrid optional in Weston, Florida
Compensation: Competitive senior/staff-level package
Employment type: Full-time
Team: Engineering, Storefronts
About the company
This company is building an autonomous commerce platform for direct-to-consumer founders.
The platform unifies storefronts, checkout, payments, and operations into one system where AI agents handle the operational grind and merchants can focus on growth.
The company originally set out to build the “Shopify of direct response,” but the opportunity has become larger.
Direct response represents a massive portion of ecommerce and is chronically underserved by modern software. These merchants live and die by speed, conversion, margin, and operational execution. They do not rely on brand moats. They compete through better systems, faster iteration, and sharper execution.
That makes them some of the earliest and most practical adopters of AI agents in commerce.
The company is already at 8-figure ARR, growing 100%+ year over year, with strong unit economics, rapid merchant adoption, and a large market opportunity ahead.
Why now
- This is a rare opportunity to join a company with proven revenue, real product-market fit, and a clear category-defining opportunity.
- Product-market fit is already established. Merchant demand is growing, adoption is accelerating, and the company is outperforming expectations.
- The next phase is about building the AI-native commerce layer on top of an already scaled payments and checkout foundation.
- While many companies are building AI tools for ecommerce, few are focused on helping sophisticated DTC operators automate revenue-generating decisions at scale.
- This customer base is unusually AI-ready. If technology drives measurable outcomes, they adopt it quickly.
About the role
- You’ll help build the technical foundation for the company’s next-generation storefront platform.
- This is a hands-on Staff Engineer role, not a management role.
- You will write code, design systems, drive architecture decisions, and own technical outcomes across the storefront layer.
- The core payments and checkout infrastructure already exists and operates at scale. Your focus will be building the next layer: a storefront system where merchants and AI agents collaborate to create high-converting landing pages, advertorials, and buyer journeys.
- You’ll work closely with the Engineering Lead for Storefronts and the Product Lead shaping the vision for this product area.
What you’ll own
- You’ll own the architecture behind an AI-native storefront builder, including the component framework, rendering pipeline, template engine, live preview system, and builder APIs.
- You’ll build and expand the AI infrastructure that enables agent-driven workflows, including agent orchestration, tool calling, schema-constrained generation, MCP server evolution, and feedback loops.
- You’ll make architectural decisions around API contracts, service boundaries, data modeling, system performance, and platform reliability.
- You’ll help build autonomous deployment and optimization pipelines that allow storefront pages to be generated, tested, validated, deployed, and optimized with increasing levels of automation.
- You’ll work on performance-critical rendering systems, including SSR, streaming rendering, CDN caching, edge delivery, and Core Web Vitals.
- You’ll also help drive reliability across observability, tracing, SLOs, and incident response.
Tech stack
The stack includes React, Angular, TypeScript, Node.js, SQL, and Liquid.
The ideal candidate does not need every single tool on day one, but should be deeply comfortable with TypeScript, Node.js, modern frontend architecture, and production-grade systems design.
What we’re looking for
- We’re looking for someone with 8+ years of experience building web platforms, with clear Staff-level technical impact.
- You should have strong hands-on experience building AI or LLM-powered systems, especially agentic systems, orchestration layers, autonomous workflows, or tool-calling infrastructure.
- You should be expe…
