Job Description
Who is XH?
- We are a small (~15 person), close-knit, and dedicated team of developers from diverse backgrounds.
- Our clients are large global hedge funds, fund administrators, and similar firms. Together they manage over $100B worth of assets using software we have designed and built for them.
- We engage with our clients to develop innovative, web-based applications for use cases including: portfolio management, risk analysis, trade capture, executive dashboards, custom reporting, document management, and new integrations with the latest AI language models.
- We also develop Hoist, our open source, full stack toolkit for modern enterprise web applications. Carefully integrating client and server technologies, Hoist provides a consistent, polished set of coding patterns and components we use across all our work — patterns that also make it an excellent foundation for AI-augmented development of the highest quality and reliability.

What Will You Do?
- Work directly with client teams and their users to learn how they work and where the friction lies.
- Translate complex, data-heavy requirements into clear information architecture, user flows, wireframes, and interactive prototypes.
- Grow and steward Hoist’s design system — its components, patterns, and visual language — hand in hand with the developers who build it.
- Make the case for your design decisions with clients and teammates, balancing craft against real timelines and technical constraints.
- Put work in front of users, learn from how they respond, and iterate.
What Are We Looking For?
Must have (required):
- A strong portfolio showing 5+ years designing user-facing interfaces for complex, data-rich products.
- Command of the fundamentals — typography, layout, color, hierarchy, and interaction — with an instinct for clean, usable design.
- Hands-on experience building or maintaining a real design system in your tool of choice (Figma, Sketch, or similar).
- Excellent communication skills to work directly with clients and engineers.
Nice-to-have (but not required):
- Comfortable implementing your own designs in TypeScript, React, and SASS/CSS.
- Experience designing enterprise data visualizations: dense grids, dashboards, charts, and custom reporting.
- Experience in the FinTech industry creating applications for investment/trading or similar firms.
What Do We Offer?
- Competitive salary and comprehensive benefits (medical, dental, vision, 401K, 3 weeks vacation).
- Option to work from home one day per week.
- Collaborative work environment with commitment to co-development, code quality, and mentorship.
- Opportunities to explore the Fintech domain and build new projects from the ground up.
How Do We Evaluate Candidates?
- Carefully review your resume and accompanying cover letter sent to [email protected].
- Invite you to 1-2 phone interviews followed by a technical, on-site interview at our office.
- Provide you with opportunities to ask us questions and meet some of our team members.
- Contact your professional references and, if a hire is likely, conduct a routine background check.
