Mechanical Engineer (5+ years - MEP Design)

Our client, a well-established multidisciplinary engineering consultancy, is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join its growing New York team. This opportunity is open to candidates with 5+ years of experience through to Senior Engineer level professionals.

This role will focus primarily on commercial and corporate workplace projects, providing the opportunity to work on technically challenging building systems within a collaborative consulting environment.

The Role

The successful candidate will support the design and delivery of HVAC and mechanical systems across a variety of high-profile commercial interior, workplace, corporate, and base-building projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop HVAC and mechanical systems for commercial and corporate facilities.
• Prepare construction documents, specifications, calculations, and technical reports.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary engineering teams throughout project delivery.
• Participate in client meetings, site visits, and construction administration activities.
• Work closely with architects, owners, consultants, and contractors.
• Support project schedules, technical quality, and key delivery milestones.
• Contribute to sustainable and energy-efficient building system solutions.

Desired Background

• 5+ years of experience within MEP or building services consulting.
• Strong experience delivering commercial, workplace, or corporate interior projects.
• Solid understanding of HVAC system design, load calculations, ventilation, piping, and building systems coordination.
• Familiarity with applicable building codes and industry standards.
• Strong communication and coordination skills.
• Experience with Revit and AutoCAD is preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• EIT certification or PE license preferred.
• Experience working within a multidisciplinary consulting environment.
