A leading consumer technology business is looking for an AI Engineer / GenAI Engineer to join its growing data, product and engineering function in New York City. This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to build real-world AI products, not just experiments or proof of concepts. The business is investing heavily in GenAI, automation and intelligent product experiences across customer, commercial and operational use cases.
Key responsibilities include:
- Building and deploying GenAI applications using LLMs and modern AI frameworks
- Developing AI agents, copilots, chatbots and automation tools across business and product use cases
- Working closely with product, engineering, data science and analytics teams
- Integrating LLMs with internal systems, data platforms, APIs and business workflows
- Building scalable backend services to support AI-enabled products
- Improving prompt design, retrieval, evaluation, testing and model performance
- Working with vector databases, embeddings, RAG pipelines and orchestration frameworks
- Helping define best practice around AI governance, security, reliability and responsible AI
- Taking AI solutions from concept through to production
Requirements:
- Strong experience in Python and backend engineering
- Hands-on experience building with LLMs and GenAI tools
- Experience with OpenAI, Anthropic, LangChain, LlamaIndex, Hugging Face or similar
- Experience building RAG pipelines, working with embeddings and vector databases
- Strong understanding of APIs, cloud platforms and production software engineering
- Experience deploying AI/ML solutions into production environments
- Exposure to AWS, GCP or Azure
- Experience working with product and engineering teams in a fast-moving technology environment
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to turn business problems into practical AI solutions
- Experience in consumer technology, ecommerce, SaaS, marketplace or digital product environments would be beneficial
