Senior DWH Redshift Specialist

Location: Gachibowli, Hyderabad (Vasavi Sky City)

Work Mode: Hybrid

Job Type & Shift: Full Time & 12:30 PM 9:30 PM IST

Experience Required: 6+ years

About the Role:

We are looking for a highly experienced AWS Redshift Performance Tuning Expert to serve as the technical authority on everything Redshift across our organization. This is not a general data engineering or cloud DBA role. We need a specialist with deep knowledge of Redshift internals MPP architecture, distribution mechanics, sort key strategy, query compilation, and WLM queue behavior who can diagnose the root cause of performance problems that others cannot explain.

Critically, every developer on our data teams will be bringing their Redshift code to this person for review, optimization, and guidance. You must be as skilled at teaching as you are at tuning. You will build the observability layer that gives us visibility into cluster health, define the coding standards that prevent performance problems before they happen, and be the person developers trust to make their code faster and their jobs easier.

Required Skills & Experience:

• 6+ years working with large-scale data warehousing, with at least 3 years hands-on with AWS Redshift
• Experience building CloudWatch-based monitoring and alerting for Redshift cluster health
• Deep understanding of MPP architecture and how distribution, sort keys, and encoding interact at execution time
• Column encoding selection and validation using ANALYZE COMPRESSION and query profiling
• Expert SQL: window functions, complex joins, CTEs, set operations, and subquery optimization
• Redshift Spectrum: external table design, partition strategy, and S3 data layout
• Hands-on experience designing WLM configurations for mixed concurrent workloads
• Materialized view design and incremental refresh implementation
• Proficiency with Redshift system tables: STL_*, SVL_*, STV_*, and STI_* catalog views
• Strong written and verbal communication can explain internals clearly to developers of all levels
• Proven track record of measurable, significant query performance improvements in production
• Experience authoring SQL coding standards or best practice guides adopted by engineering teams
