Network Engineer - Onsite

CloudFirst Technology Solutions is seeking an experienced Onsite Network Engineer to support project-based network infrastructure engagements across client environments.

This role is responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance, and optimization of network systems, ensuring high availability, security, and performance.

This is a project-based position requiring flexibility in work schedule and availability based on active project needs.

Work Setup & Engagement Details

• Work Schedule: Flexible; aligned with project requirements
• Location Requirement: Must be based within a reasonable commuting distance to assigned client project sites
• Estimated Hours: Approximately 10+ hours per week, depending on project scope and duration
• Travel Requirements: Minimal to moderate travel based on project needs
• Engagement Type: Project-based (no guaranteed full-time hours)

Key Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and maintain network infrastructure, including routers, switches, DHCP servers, and LAN/WAN systems
• Support and manage VPNs, firewalls, and network security systems
• Perform onsite network setup, including LAN/WAN coverage, peer-to-peer, and ad hoc environments
• Monitor network performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement performance tuning improvements
• Diagnose and resolve network-related issues, providing timely updates to stakeholders
• Implement and support disaster recovery and business continuity procedures
• Perform firmware updates and maintain network hardware and systems
• Ensure adherence to security standards, compliance requirements, and networking best practices

Technical Requirements

• Strong knowledge of LAN/WAN, TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, and switching
• Experience with VPN technologies and remote connectivity
• Hands-on experience with firewalls and network security tools
• Proficiency in network diagnostics, monitoring, and performance optimization
• Experience with onsite network infrastructure deployment (basic to complex environments)

Qualifications

• Proven experience in Network Engineering, Infrastructure Support, or related roles
• Strong troubleshooting and analytical/problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently in onsite client environments
• Strong communication skills for coordinating with internal teams and clients
