Back End Developer

We are seeking a Backend Engineer to join a delivery team working on a high-profile programme. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and maintaining scalable backend services, with a strong focus on event-driven architecture and CQRS-based systems.

Working within an agile environment, you will contribute to the design, development, and enhancement of distributed applications, ensuring high performance, resilience, and maintainability.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain backend services using .NET, Java, or Python.
• Design and implement solutions using CQRS and Event Sourcing patterns.
• Build and integrate APIs to support system-to-system communication.
• Develop event-driven applications leveraging Azure Service Bus.
• Contribute to the design and operation of distributed systems and microservices.
• Collaborate with engineers, architects, and stakeholders throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Participate in code reviews, testing, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Essential Skills & Experience

• Strong commercial experience with CQRS (mandatory).
• Proven experience building event-driven architectures.
• Good understanding of Event Sourcing principles.
• Backend development expertise in .NET, Java, or Python.
• Experience with Azure Service Bus or similar messaging technologies.
• Strong API development and integration experience.
• Understanding of distributed systems and scalable application design.
• Experience working within agile software delivery teams.

Desirable

• Active SC Clearance.
• Experience within secure or highly regulated environments.
• Experience developing cloud-native solutions in Microsoft Azure.
