Miryco Consultants is working with a specialist and entrepreneurial insurance business that is looking to appoint a Compliance Manager to join its growing team.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced insurance compliance professional to take on a broad, hands-on role within a small and ambitious business operating at the intersection of insurance, technology and regulation.
This is not a traditional role within a large, established compliance department. The successful candidate will need to be proactive, commercially minded and comfortable taking ownership across a broad range of compliance responsibilities, while helping the business develop and scale.
The Opportunity
You will play a central role in overseeing and developing the compliance framework, providing regulatory guidance and supporting a diverse network of insurance businesses, including brokers, MGAs and emerging insurtechs.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Overseeing the day-to-day compliance function and ensuring the business operates in accordance with relevant FCA and Lloyd’s regulatory requirements.
- Providing practical compliance advice and guidance to the business and its wider network of insurance partners.
- Supporting the onboarding and due diligence of new Appointed Representatives and insurance businesses.
- Conducting compliance reviews and ensuring appropriate governance and regulatory standards are maintained.
- Overseeing ongoing monitoring, including periodic reviews, attestations and annual compliance assessments.
- Reviewing and approving financial promotions, marketing materials and customer-facing documentation.
- Ensuring appropriate policies, procedures and compliance documentation are maintained and updated.
- Monitoring regulatory developments and assessing their impact on the business and its partners.
- Supporting the implementation of Consumer Duty requirements and ensuring appropriate customer outcomes are considered.
- Identifying potential compliance risks and developing proportionate solutions and controls.
- Supporting regulatory engagement and responding to relevant information requests.
- Working closely with senior management to strengthen the compliance framework as the business grows.
- Identifying opportunities to improve processes, systems and the overall delivery of compliance support.
About You
We are looking for someone with a strong background in insurance compliance who enjoys working in a smaller, entrepreneurial environment.
Ideally, you will have:
- Previous experience in a compliance role within insurance, an MGA, an insurance broker or the wider financial services sector .
- A good understanding of the FCA regulatory framework and its application within the insurance market.
- Familiarity with Appointed Representative arrangements and regulatory oversight would be highly advantageous.
- Knowledge of Consumer Duty, financial promotions and relevant conduct requirements.
- Experience undertaking compliance monitoring, due diligence and regulatory reviews.
- The ability to interpret regulatory requirements and translate them into practical business processes.
- Strong organisational skills and excellent attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills, with the confidence to provide guidance and challenge senior stakeholders.
- A proactive and solutions-oriented approach.
Importantly, we are looking for someone entrepreneurial. You’ll need to be comfortable working in a small team, managing your own workload, taking initiative and getting involved across different areas of the business. This is an opportunity to make a genuine impact rather than simply operate within an established structure.
Why Apply?
This is a particularly interesting opportunity for someone who enjoys the variety and responsibility that comes with working in a smaller business.
You’ll have direct exposure to senior leadership, significant ownership of the compliance function and the opportunity to work with a diverse range of businesses across the insurance market.
The business is entrepreneurial in nature and focused on supporting innovation and growth within insurance. As a result, the role offers the opportunity to help shape how compliance is delivered, improve existing processes and play an important part in the continued development of th…
