Job Description
AI Biologist - Human Physiology (In Partnership with LatchBio)
**Full-Time Remote United States**We’re partnering with LatchBio, a rapidly growing AI-driven biotechnology company, to recruit an AI Biologist specialising in Human Physiology.
LatchBio is developing rigorous scientific benchmarks that help leading AI labs evaluate how effectively their models understand complex biological systems, interpret research evidence and solve real-world scientific problems.
This is an opportunity to apply your scientific expertise at the intersection of human physiology, biological research and frontier AI, helping establish the standards against which advanced AI systems are evaluated.
The Opportunity
You’ll use your expertise in human physiology to design scientifically challenging evaluations, analyse real biological and clinical data, and assess whether AI-generated conclusions are biologically accurate.
This is a science-first position where deep physiological understanding, experimental reasoning and critical thinking are more important than advanced programming expertise.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop scientifically rigorous research problems and benchmarks to evaluate AI reasoning across human biology and disease.
- Analyse experimental, physiological and clinical datasets to establish evidence-based conclusions.
- Critically evaluate AI-generated scientific interpretations, identifying inaccuracies, unsupported claims and flawed biological reasoning.
- Apply knowledge of physiological mechanisms, organ-system interactions and disease processes to complex research questions.
- Collaborate with scientists and engineers to develop and improve AI-driven scientific evaluation workflows.
What we’re looking for
- PhD, MD or equivalent research experience in Human Physiology, Integrative Physiology, Translational Medicine, Cardiovascular Physiology, Endocrinology or a related discipline.
- Strong understanding of human physiological systems, including organ interactions, regulatory mechanisms and disease.
- Hands-on experience analysing and interpreting experimental, physiological or clinical research data.
- Excellent scientific reasoning, experimental design and ability to formulate and evaluate mechanistic hypotheses.
- Working knowledge of Python or R for scientific data analysis.
- Familiarity with AI tools such as ChatGPT or Codex, or a willingness to incorporate them into research workflows.
Desirable: Research spanning multiple physiological systems, human clinical or interventional studies, and experience integrating molecular, physiological and clinical datasets.
Why Join LatchBio?
- Frontier AI exposure: Help shape how advanced AI systems are evaluated in complex biological and medical research.
- Meaningful scientific impact: Apply your research expertise to problems at the forefront of AI and human biology.
- High-growth environment: Join a commercially expanding company working with leading AI laboratories.
- Remote flexibility: Work remotely, with access to LatchBio’s San Francisco office.
- Performance-based earnings: $140K-$180K on-target earnings, with uncapped upside and compensation linked to scientific output.
- Career progression: Opportunities to develop as an individual contributor or progress into scientific leadership.
Compensation & Location
Location: Fully Remote, with San Francisco office access available
Pay: $140K–$180K OTE (on-target earnings), with no ceiling.
- Your pay is your OTE times your weekly quota attainment. Hit quota, earn your OTE; double it, earn double. Example: $150K OTE at double quota = $300K.
- Your first 4 weeks (ramp) are paid at full OTE while you’re trained.
- You’re paid full OTE whenever quota can’t fairly apply: when a new project is starting, the platform goes down, or we pull you onto a special project.
US employees receive health, dental and vision coverage, 401(k) benefits and paid time off.
Work authorization: we sponsor H-1B (new and transfers), O-1, and TN, and support STEM OPT.
Interview Process
- Apply. If your profile matches, we’ll send you a take-home project.
- Take-home project (HackerRank). We review it as soon as it arrives.
- Technical interview with a Member of Technical Staff (pod lead), scheduled right after your project review.
- Culture interview with our C-suite.
- Offer.
- Background check, once you accept.
