Senior Product Designer

Job Description: Purpose Our client is looking for an exceptional senior product designer ready to share their passion and dive into creating digital solutions for its consumer website. This role requires strong design, communication and collaboration skills to work closely with product teams to deliver intuitive, engaging experiences. You will be hands-on from concept through prototyping, then collaborate with other designers, product managers and developers to ensure quality of implementation. Your work will be part of a new digital ecosystem experienced by millions of travelers worldwide.

Responsibilities

• Balance business and product requirements using market analysis, user feedback, site metrics and usability findings to design purposeful content organization and simplified experiences.
• Participate in user research planning and execution to identify user needs, goals and preferences, and incorporate feedback into deliverables.
• Deliver concepts on paper, wireframes or detailed prototypes to communicate solutions and test with users.
• Develop design specifications in the form of journeys, storyboards, site maps, wireframes and prototypes that clearly communicate information architecture and intended interactions.
• Work closely with developers on technical feasibility and quality, and collaborate on alternatives when scope or technical challenges arise.
• Participate in QA testing with clear descriptions of issues and opportunities.
• Work with analytics to define post-launch success metrics and use data to suggest improvements.
• Help create and maintain the pattern library, design system, documentation and templates.
• Work in iterative processes, including agile and lean methodologies.
• Be a team player and help support a growing user experience team.

Experience And Qualifications

• 3-10 years of experience in information architecture and interaction design for complex web and mobile applications.
• Excellent portfolio of information architecture and interaction design work for desktop and mobile. Candidates will present a few projects from conception to completion, their process and their role.
• Functional knowledge of information architecture, usability, user-centered design and interaction design.
• Ability to turn requirements and ideas into flows, site maps, wireframes and prototypes.
• Strong empathy for user needs and the ability to link them to measurable solutions.
• Strong communication and presentation skills; self-motivated and able to work independently and in a team.
• Expert proficiency in wireframing and prototyping tools (e.g., Sketch, Figma, Axure, Adobe XD).
• Experience with user research, usability testing and site analytics is a plus.
• Strong understanding of website design methodologies (mobile first, responsive/adaptive design).
• Working knowledge of HTML, CSS and JavaScript as they relate to design.

Preferred: Knowledge of the travel industry and experience with localization.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Human Factors, Interactive Design, Psychology or a related design field is desired.

Pay rate: $90/hr. This is a 6-month contract position, hybrid (3 days/week onsite) in Chicago, IL.
