**Senior Service Designer SC Cleared Central Government**

Remote, with occasional travel

£740 per day (umbrella, Inside IR35)

12-month contract

The role

You’ll design the end-to-end journey of a public service so users can reach their goal and the policy intent is delivered. The work covers transactions, products and content across digital and offline channels.

This is a senior role, so you’ll work with minimal support. You’ll mentor other designers and work with service managers and programme directors to set design direction and build good practice across teams.

What you’ll be doing

• Running design workshops with a wide range of stakeholders to agree priorities and identify risks and opportunities
• Helping product managers with scoping, roadmapping and prioritisation
• Building design concepts and prototypes that reimagine the user experience
• Using journey mapping and other user-centred methods to show the end-to-end impact of decisions
• Designing systems that work across multiple services, always looking for the simplest approach
• Identifying and designing for assisted digital needs
• Leading design strategy and evaluating policies against business requirements
• Managing complex risks and building consensus across services and stakeholders

What you’ll bring

• Proven experience as a Senior Service Designer delivering end-to-end services across digital and offline channels
• Confident workshop facilitation with senior, diverse stakeholder groups
• Hands-on prototyping, including static HTML and CSS
• Ability to explain technical and business needs clearly to both audiences
• Experience mentoring and influencing designers and multidisciplinary teams
• Skills at Practitioner level against the Government Digital and Data Profession Capability Framework
• Experience working to the GDS Service Standard (desirable)

Essential

• Active SC clearance. This is mandatory, and we can’t consider candidates without current SC.
• Available to start a 12-month Inside IR35 engagement via an umbrella company
• Able to travel occasionally when needed
