Job Description

Location: Nine Elms, London - Full-time About Zapp Zapp is London’s leading premium on-demand retail platform. Founded in 2020, our vision is to disrupt the multi-trillion dollar on-demand retail market, currently dominated by major players, by developing best-in-class customer-centric technology and fulfilment solutions. Zapp partners with some of the world’s leading brands to deliver an exclusive range of hand-picked products 24/7, delivered in minutes.

Overview This is a broad, hands-on role spanning financial planning, the month-end close and business partnering. Working closely with Zapp’s finance leadership you will support all of Zapp’s financial planning activity, help deliver an accurate and timely close, and act as a finance partner to teams across the business. You will also provide the actuals and analysis behind corporate activity, including fundraising, M&A, partnerships and key contract negotiations, so you will see every part of how Zapp’s finance function works.

Zapp is growing fast, and finance grows with it. You’ll work in a high-calibre team with direct exposure to senior leadership. Your remit will flex with the business, so there’s always room to take on more as we scale.

What You Will Do Financial planning and analysis

  • Lead all financial planning activities, including the annual budget, quarterly reforecasts and the rolling cash forecast.
  • Own parts of the three-statement model, keeping it accurate, up to date and linked to the latest actuals.
  • Run variance analysis against budget and forecast, isolating the key drivers and translating them into clear, actionable recommendations for leadership.

Management accounting and month end

  • Support the month-end close, including journals, accruals, prepayments and balance sheet reconciliations, to the Financial Controller’s timetable.
  • Prepare and review the monthly management accounts and the commentary that explains performance.
  • Help strengthen month-end processes and controls, shortening the close and improving accuracy.

Business partnering

  • Partner with teams across the business, including commercial, operations, marketing and product, to drive performance against profitability and EBITDA targets.
  • Act as a trusted finance partner to department heads, aligning their budgets and plans with overall business objectives.
  • Prepare and present clear, insightful reporting to senior leadership, surfacing the KPIs and financial metrics that matter.

Corporate activity

  • Provide the actuals and analysis that support the Principal, Finance (Head of Finance) on fundraising, M&A, partnerships and key contract negotiations.
  • Support due diligence and data room preparation when transactions are live.

Requirements

  • Qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA), ideally audit trained, with 2+ years’ post-qualification experience.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset - comfortable in a fast-moving environment, able to take responsibility from day one and work independently by following processes and own directions.
  • Strong hands-on finance experience spanning FP&A and management accounting, gained in industry (retail or high-growth consumer experience a plus, but by no means essential).
  • Has built and maintained financial models, including three-statement models.
  • Has delivered month-end closes and management accounts.
  • Commercially minded, comfortable turning analysis into recommendations on pricing, margin, growth and cost.
  • Exposure to fundraising, M&A or corporate transactions is an advantage.
  • Able to influence and constructively challenge senior stakeholders.
  • Adaptable: comfortable stepping in anywhere in the function as priorities change.
  • Advanced Excel; comfort working with large data sets (SQL / BigQuery a plus). Xero experience is a plus.
  • Discretion, sound judgement and integrity are non-negotiable.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary.
  • 25 days of holiday per year, plus all bank holidays.
  • Private health insurance.
  • Zapp Credit for testing the Zapp service and experience.
  • Lunch provided 4 days a week at HQ.
  • Extended sick pay and maternity/paternity leave pay.
  • Cycle to work scheme.
  • Flexible/hybrid working arrangement.
