Job Description
Job Title: AI Transformation Leader, Next-Gen Communications
Location: Full Time, Los Angeles or New York City
About Us:
Upland Workshop is a boutique media and strategic communications firm that works with high-profile founders, executives, investors, and cultural figures to shape how their stories are told. The firm operates at the intersection of narrative, media, and influence—advising clients not just on what to say, but how to show up across modern channels in ways that are credible, differentiated, and enduring.
We’re developing an AI product that redefines how humans and machines collaborate to create nontraditional media deliverables. Our mission is to move beyond the constraints of traditional communication—press releases, mass emails, and static content—and instead create dynamic, intelligent, and adaptive interactions that evolve in real time. We’re building a tool that allows individuals and organizations to communicate with context, nuance, and personalization at scale, powered by AI that understands intent, not just words.
The Role:
We’re seeking a strategic leader to bridge the gap between our AI development teams, internal stakeholders, and client partners. This person will ensure our proprietary communications AI initiative is delivered with both technical excellence and business impact. The ideal candidate combines business acumen (MBA or equivalent experience) with the ability to translate technical progress into operational and client value.
Key Responsibilities:
· Program Leadership: Oversee the full lifecycle of the AI project—from deployment to continuous iteration.
· Stakeholder Coordination: Act as the connective tissue between engineers, internal leadership, and client teams.
· Strategic Alignment: Ensure project goals align with both client needs and Upland’s broader business strategy.
· Operational Enablement: Establish the internal systems and processes for maintaining and evolving the AI solution post-launch.
· Client Success: Serve as a strategic partner for the client’s senior team, translating technical outcomes into business value.
· Performance Tracking: Define and monitor KPIs related to AI performance, adoption, and ROI.
· Vendor/Partner Management: Coordinate with external technical partners or AI vendors to ensure deliverables align with expectations.
What You’ll Bring:
· MBA or equivalent advanced degree in business, operations, or technology management.
· 7–10+ years of experience in AI product management, consulting, or digital transformation.
· Proven success managing cross-functional and client-facing projects.
· Excellent communicator—comfortable presenting to executives.
· Experience in communications or tech a plus.
Bonus Skills:
· Translational thinker — speaks both “engineer” and “executive.”
· Thrives in ambiguity and can architect structure around innovation.
· Strategic but willing to dive into details when needed.
