The AI systems everyone is talking about are trained and tested by real data scientists. The teams building them need data scientists who can create challenging, realistic problems, judge how well an AI system solves them, write the solution a professional would give, and explain exactly where the system falls short. Your judgment helps shape the next generation of AI models and the tools used to evaluate them. This is remote, part-time contractor work with hours and days you choose.

What you’ll do

• Build reproducible data science tasks and include the dataset, required packages and instructions for running each one

• Use coding agents on those tasks, study their failures and refine the task design in response

• Build verified reference solutions showing the expected completion path for every task

• Develop tests and evaluation criteria to tell a complete, correct solution from an incomplete or flawed approach

Who this is for

• Professional experience in data science, machine learning or quantitative modeling, or a background in research competitions, plus professional fluency in English

• Competition experience using platforms such as CodaLab/Codabench, DataSource.ai, Numerai, AIcrowd, Zindi, DrivenData or Kaggle

• Strong Python ability to test, debug and work in unfamiliar code, along with the ability to implement and verify solutions independently

• Strong problem solving, with a clear grasp of why the methods in your solutions work

• No experience in AI training work needed. You bring the expertise; we bring the training on the tools.

• $60–$120 per hour equivalent; pay is per accepted task, as an independent contractor
