Job Description
• $140–$400 per hour
• 100% remote
• Part-time
• Fully flexible schedule
Work on the cutting edge of AI, on your own schedule, and get paid for the regulatory judgment you already bring to energy and utilities law.
The AI systems everyone is talking about are trained and tested by real legal experts. The teams building them need energy and utilities regulatory attorneys who can work through realistic rate, tariff and compliance questions, judge whether an AI answer is legally sound, write the legal analysis an attorney would give, and explain where the reasoning falls short. Your judgment helps shape the next generation of AI models. This is that work, done remotely around your schedule.
What you’ll do
• Analyze realistic regulatory scenarios involving rate design and tariff structures
• Evaluate conflicts between jurisdictions, unresolved questions and facts that may alter the result, then flag ambiguous scenarios for review
• Check fellow contributors’ analyses for legal accuracy and clear reasoning
• Set out the legal reasoning supporting each conclusion, keeping the analysis practical and accurate
Why this is worth your time
• Get paid $140–$400 an hour to build real AI skills
• Work directly with frontier AI tools and see how they are built, tested and improved, experience most energy and utilities regulatory attorneys will not have for years
• Build a career edge for what comes next: AI is reshaping energy and utilities regulation, and the attorneys who understand it from the inside will lead that change
• Fully remote and flexible, no fixed shifts, no commute
Who this is for
• A J.D. earned at an ABA-accredited law school, plus an active admission to a U.S. bar maintained in good standing
• At least four years working in substantive, hands-on energy and utilities regulatory practice, including work advising utilities, energy regulators or independent power producers
• Fluent English; knowledge of rate design, market structure and regulatory compliance; and experience handling FERC, state public utility commission or ISO/RTO matters
• No AI experience needed.
Pay and details
• $140–$400 per hour, paid hourly as an independent contractor
• Fully flexible schedule; fully remote, United States
