Cloud Data Modernization Architect

Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Cloud Data Modernization Architect to lead the design and implementation of modern, scalable data platforms on Cloud (preferable Oracle Cloud). The role requires a strong blend of architectural vision and hands-on expertise in data pipelines, scripting, database setup, and data lake solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement end-to-end data modernization solutions in Cloud
• Build and optimize data pipelines for batch and real-time processing
• Develop and manage ETL/ELT workflows using Data Integration / custom frameworks
• Set up, configure, and optimize databases (Oracle Autonomous DB, Exadata, etc.)
• Architect and implement data lake / lakehouse solutions using cloud Storage and related services
• Write and maintain automation scripts (Python, Shell, terraform, ansible, etc.) for data workflows and infrastructure
• Lead data migration initiatives from on-premises or legacy systems to OCI
• DB Migration of Legacy DBs to cloud
• Ensure data governance, security, and compliance across platforms
• Collaborate with business, analytics, and engineering teams to deliver scalable data solutions
• Troubleshoot and optimize system performance and reliability
• Experience in Oracle@multicloud implementation and migration preferable
• Helping with architecting, solutioning and implementation
• Good knowledge of RFP life-cycle

Required Qualifications

• Bachelors/Masters degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
• 8–15 years of experience in data engineering / data architecture

• Strong hands-on experience with:

• Data pipeline development (batch + streaming)
• SQL, PL/SQL, Python / Shell scripting

• Data modeling and database design

• Proven experience in database setup, tuning, and migration
• Expertise in building data lakes / modern data platforms
• Experience with ETL tools / frameworks (Data Integration, Informatica, etc.)

Preferred Skills (Good to Have)

• Experience with Spark, Kafka, or other big data tools
• Knowledge of lakehouse architectures
• Exposure to multi-cloud environments (AWS/Azure/GCP/OCI)
• Familiarity with DevOps, CI/CD, and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform)
• Experience with data governance tools and frameworks
