About Proponent
Proponent is an AI-native conversation and revenue intelligence platform. We turn sales and customer calls into structured signals: deal risk, objections, pain points, buying intent, call quality. Teams use it to coach reps, forecast better, and feed real customer voice into product and marketing.
We’re a small founding team across Seattle and Mumbai, working with design partners in sales, CX and call-center operations. You’ll be one of our first engineering hires and will own a big part of how the product thinks.
What you’ll do
- Build and ship LLM-powered agents that extract signals, summaries and insights from call transcripts at scale
- Design prompts, schemas and evaluation sets, and keep output quality measurable as models change
- Own the pipeline from transcript ingestion to structured output: chunking, retrieval, multi-step reasoning, synthesis
- Work on our call ingestion layer that normalizes data from dialers and meeting recorders
- Balance accuracy, latency and cost per call in production
- Work directly with founders and customers to turn messy real-world requirements into reliable features
What we’re looking for
- 3+ years of software engineering, with at least 1 year shipping LLM features to production
- Strong Python (or TypeScript) and solid backend fundamentals: APIs, queues, databases
- Hands-on with LLM APIs (Gemini, OpenAI, Anthropic), structured outputs and tool calling
- You’ve built evals, not just prompts. You know how to tell if a change made things better
- Comfortable with ambiguity and owning things end to end
- Clear written communication. We’re remote, so this matters
Nice to have
- Experience with speech/transcription data, diarization or conversational AI
- Familiarity with sales tools (CRMs, dialers, Gong-style products)
- Startup or founding-team experience
