About VEV VEV specialises in designing and implementing scaled enterprise fleet solutions. Our expertise lies in optimizing fleets, charging infrastructure, and operations to maximize the benefits of transitioning to sustainable transportation. With a wealth of experience in delivering comprehensive turnkey charging solutions at scale, we are committed to guiding organizations through a seamless transition towards a greener future.
We are rolling out the next generation of electric vehicle charging solutions across the UK, Europe and beyond. As our team expands we are looking for people passionate about decarbonising the economy while also building a strong and sustainable business.
Position Overview
VEV is building a high-voltage electricity connections capability, operating as an accredited Independent Connections Provider for developers, industrial and commercial clients and charging infrastructure operators across the UK. The team is based in West Yorkshire where this role will be based, alongside VEV’s London office.
The HV Commercial Manager holds commercial accountability for this part of the business, reporting jointly to the ICP Director and to the group commercial function. The role combines business development with commercial management: winning new connections work and the commercial framework that delivers it.
Key responsibilities
- Own the commercial result for the ICP sector, aligned to VEV’s strategy - revenue, margin, cash and commercial risk
- Lead prospection of new ICP-solus customers and work together with the other verticals and the broader VEV team on ICP related opportunities for the broader VEV offer
- Set and maintain the pricing framework and rate card for connections work, and govern commercial approvals, based on VEV’s delegation of authority
- Negotiate and manage main contracts, including variations, compensation events, claims and final accounts
- Report margin, forecast and commercial risk to divisional and group leadership
- Work with the ICP Director, engineering and operations on resourcing, delivery risk and solution development
The Successful Candidate Will Have
- Proven track record in B2B sales within the electrical, utilities or power infrastructure sectors
- Experience working with 11kV and 33kV networks, electrical infrastructure projects and power distribution systems
- Strong understanding of the 11kV and 33kV supply chain, including DNOs, ICPs, IDNOs, utility contractors and end customers
- Proven ability to generate new leads and develop business opportunities from initial prospecting through to contract award
- Ability to identify the key technical and commercial needs of prospects and communicate the value and benefits of our solutions
- Experience working alongside sales and technical teams to prepare quotations, develop tenders and negotiate commercial agreements
- Confidence in delivering sales presentations, product proposals and technical discussions to customers and prospects
- Experience collaborating with engineering, operations and commercial teams to develop solutions and improve products based on customer feedback
- Ability to accurately forecast revenue across assigned territories and key accounts, maintain customer records and track sales pipelines and emerging opportunities
- Strong negotiation skills, with the ability to close complex, high-value sales and influence key decision-makers across multiple stakeholders
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to customer sites and project locations as required
