The Orbital Labs Software Factory Branch, AFRL/RJSX seeks to hire a mid-senior level, DR-2210-2/3 in downtown Colorado Springs.

Position Duties Include, But Are Not Limited To

• Agile Product Delivery: Partner with product owners, designers, and researchers to write user stories, define roadmaps, and set measurable success criteria.
• Technical Mentorship: Guide, coach, and review the work of junior and mid-level engineers to foster best practices.
• Stakeholder Communication: Translate complex technical concepts and trade-offs clearly for non-technical agency leaders and cross-functional partners.
• System Architecture & Design: Oversee overall software architecture, build prototypes, and create proofs-of-concept for full-stack applications.
• Full-Stack Development: Write, test, and maintain custom front-end and back-end code using languages like Java, Python, JavaScript, or C#.
• DevSecOps & Pipelines: Work within enterprise technology governance to build and maintain automated CI/CD and DevSecOps pipelines while ensuring strict cybersecurity compliance.
• Code Reviews & Quality Assurance: Conduct thorough code reviews, write unit/integration tests, and enforce automated testing and version control standards.

Required Qualifications

• Degree: Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in computer science, software engineering, information systems, or a related technical field.
• Specialized Experience: At least 1 year of full-time experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level (or 5+ to 10+ years of total progressive software engineering experience).
• Citizenship: Mandatory U.S. citizenship
• Security Clearance: Requires the ability to obtain—or hold an active—Secret, Top Secret, or TS/SCI

Desired Qualifications

• Containerization and Orchestration: Experience deploying containerized applications using Kubernetes or Docker container orchestration systems.
• DevOps and CI/CD Tools: Proficiency with industry-standard DevOps tools, version control systems (such as Git), and continuous integration/continuous deployment pipelines (such as Jenkins or GitLab CI).
• Full-Stack Frameworks: Hands-on background with popular frameworks including Python Flask, Java Spring, Java Spring Boot, JavaScript React, or JavaScript Redux.
• Automated Testing: 3+ years of professional experience writing and executing automated unit and integration tests.
